It does not require much water for irrigation.

Dragon fruit plants are available in the market for Rs 60 to Rs 200. The price depends on how old the plant is. If you plant 3-year-old plants, you get the yield quickly. Dragon fruit is ready in the monsoon. Fruits ripen every 40 days during the four months of monsoon. The average weight of a fruit is 100 to 300 grams.

A farmer from Hapur in Uttar Pradesh cultivated dragon fruit in one acre of land and today he is earning lakhs of rupees annually from it. He says that once the plant is planted, it bears fruit for many years. He told that this time his crop was damaged due to hailstorm. Then he hopes to earn 1.5 to 2 lakh rupees.
