Cumin Farming: Indian food cannot be imagined without spices. The taste of dishes is enhanced through spices. Cumin is also an essential spice, without which the taste of vegetables seems incomplete. Cumin can be used not only in vegetables but also in Ayurvedic-herbal medicines. Cumin is used in many ways for many diseases like stomach pain, obesity, digestion and piles, asthma, insomnia, skin disorders, respiratory disorders and bronchitis. That is, its demand remains throughout the year. In such a situation, a lot of profit can also be earned by cultivating it. The price of cumin has also increased rapidly in the past years. Currently, 100 grams of cumin is available in the market for 100 to 120 rupees.

In India, cumin is mainly produced in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Rajasthan alone accounts for 28 percent of the country’s total production. However, its cultivation is also spreading rapidly in other states. Experts believe that if cumin is cultivated properly, then millions can be easily earned from it. At present, varieties of cumin like RZ-19, GC-1, RZ 209 are cultivated in India.

Understand the earning figures
If we understand the earning figures, if you cultivated about 27 quintals of cumin and if you sell it at the rate of about Rs 32,000 per quintal, then in this way you can earn up to Rs 8.65 lakh by selling 27 quintals. This is the price you get in the market. Its cultivation costs Rs 30 to 35 thousand per acre. At the same time, in cumin cultivation, an average of 7 to 8 quintals of seeds are obtained in one acre. In such a situation, the profit is more.

What kind of climate is needed?
Cumin crop does not grow well in humid and heavy rainfall. It thrives well in moderately dry and cool climate and subtropical climate is considered ideal for it. Talking about soil, loamy soil is required for cumin cultivation which has good drainage along with organic matter. If you are planning commercial farming, then select such fields in which cumin has not been cultivated at least during the last 3 to 4 years. The months from November to December are considered most suitable for cumin cultivation.
