Police is interrogating the family of wife Nikita in the suicide case of Bengaluru AI engineer Atul Subhash. The suicide is also being investigated from the angle of harassment, domestic violence and extra marital affair.

Atul and Nikita have mentioned some people living in Bengaluru in their statements. Nikita alleges that Atul had an affair with a girl named Hina alias Rinki. Whereas, Atul had told Rohit Nigam the reason for his fights with Nikita. Bengaluru Police can also interrogate both of them regarding the suicide case.

The police had arrested Nikita, her mother and brother on December 15 in the AI engineer Atul Subhash suicide case. All three are being interrogated.
In 2022, Nikita spoke about Atul’s love affair for the first time. Nikita had filed 9 cases against Atul in Jaunpur Family Court. Their hearing was going on in Jaunpur court. Meanwhile, Atul committed suicide in Bengaluru on 9 December. Before dying, Atul left a 24-page suicide note. Also made a 90 minute video. In it, he accused his wife Nikita, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle-father-in-law and the female judge of abetting suicide.
On December 11, on the complaint of Atul’s brother, a case was registered against 4 people including Nikita. On December 15, the police arrested Nikita. Bengaluru Police is now interrogating Nikita, her mother Nisha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania.
After Atul Subhash case, restrictions have increased in Jaunpur Family Court. Now media entry has been stopped here. Lawyers cannot give video bytes to anyone. No journalist can go near the chamber of Judge Rita Kaushik, who is hearing the Atul case.
Senior advocate Vinod Srivastava is representing Nikita in Jaunpur Family Court. After Nikita’s arrest and court restrictions, he does not want to appear on camera. However, he showed us the documents related to Nikita and Atul case, in which Rohit and Rinki were mentioned.
After the death of Atul Subhash, the family is worried about the upbringing of his son. The family is preparing to go to the High Court for his permanent custody.
According to Nikita’s allegation recorded in the first document, in the reply filed by Nikita in the Family Court, I came to know about Atul’s illicit relations. Apart from Hina alias Rinki, he has relations with two more girls. He is a promiscuous person and spends most of his earnings on drugs. When I asked Atul about this, he beat me and started demanding Rs 10 lakh.
‘Atul snatched all my jewellery, expensive clothes, FD and important documents. I was beaten and thrown out of the house. He threatened that if I came to Bengaluru without Rs 10 lakh, he would kill me.
Did Nikita say anything to you about Hina during the hearing? The lawyer said- ‘No, I don’t know anything about this. Nikita has recorded all his statements in writing in the court. There was no separate discussion about this.
However, Atul’s lawyer showed us the documents of his statement, in which he has mentioned Hina alias Rinki. In his statement, Atul has denied the fact of having a girlfriend.
Atul’s response to allegations of extra marital affair Denying Nikita’s allegations, Atul said in his written statement – ‘Before May 17, 2021, our relations were sometimes good, sometimes bad. After marriage, once I introduced Nikita to my friend and his wife. My friend had come with his wife to get medicines. Both were at our house from morning till evening. After him I did not introduce any friend to Nikita.
‘It is absolutely wrong to say that the girl I introduced Nikita to was not my friend’s wife but my girlfriend Hina. It is also wrong to say that Nikita came to know that I was introducing my girlfriend to her by calling her my friend’s wife. The controversy started on this issue.
Atul mentioned ‘Rohit’ 10 months before his death. Atul and Nikita were married on June 26, 2019, in a hotel in Varanasi. Everything was good then. After marriage, Nikita stayed in Bihar for 2 days, then went to Bengaluru. There Atul would first drop Nikita to her office and then go to his office.
After the birth of the child, their relationship gradually started deteriorating. First the matter reached the police, then came to the court. In the court, both of them also accused each other of extra marital affair.
In case number 142/22 in Jaunpur Family Court, on 13 February 2024, Atul said in his statement – ‘I feel that Nikita is related to some boy. His actions make me feel that way. There were often disputes between me and Nikita regarding Rohit Nigam.
Who is Rohit Nigam, revealed in the decision of Jaunpur court on 29th July Jaunpur Family Court Judge Rita Kaushik gave the verdict in case number 142/22 Nikita vs Atul case (Section 125). In the decision dated 29th July 2024, Rohit Nigam is mentioned in point number 16.
According to the copy of the judgment, Nikita told the court – ‘I had never told my mother (Nisha Singhania) that I wanted to divorce Atul. I told my problem to the lawyer. I did as he advised. Rohit Nigam is the son of my father’s friend. It is wrong to say that while living in Bengaluru, I used to order non-veg food at home from Rohit. I had a dispute with Atul regarding this matter.
Brother said- If Atul had a girlfriend, why would he commit suicide? We contacted Atul’s younger brother Vikas Kumar. He is fighting the legal battle for Atul. He says that even if Atul has to go to the Supreme Court to get justice, then my family is ready. We asked Vikas a few questions about Nikita’s allegations, Hina (Rinki) and Rohit Nigam.
Question: Nikita alleges that Atul had a girlfriend after marriage. Did you know about this? answer: If my brother had an affair with a girl then why would he commit suicide? If he had a girlfriend, he would have lived comfortably with her after Nikita left. If Nikita felt that my brother had an affair, she would have proved it.
Question: Nikita has given evidence to the court that money was transferred from Atul’s HDFC bank account to Hina’s account? answer: I would say that if I have a friend and I am transferring money to her, it does not prove that that girl is my girlfriend. Think of it like if a friend of yours books your flight ticket. Later you return the money to him online, then you have illicit relations with him.
Question: Who are Hina (Rinki) and Rohit Nigam. Did Atul ever tell you about him? answer: Brother did not share his personal matters much. All I know is that the Hina (Rinki) we are talking about is the wife of my brother’s friend. Even if brother introduces her to Nikita, will she become his girlfriend?
Question: What does your family want now? answer: Right now the family is worried about brother’s son. We want to know who has it with him at this time. If there is no one to take care of him, then the grandparents have every right to keep him with them. We will go to the High Court for his permanent custody.
‘Nikita’s false cases harassed Atul’ Jaunpur’s senior advocate Dinesh Mishra, who is fighting the case of Atul Subhash, says, ‘Atul was a very good-natured boy. Whenever his due date fell, he used to come to Jaunpur from Bangalore. Nikita had filed cases against him like wrongful murder, dowry harassment, domestic violence and divorce. Atul was upset by this.
Atul was most saddened by separation from his child. Whenever Nikita brought her son to the court, Atul yearned to get a glimpse of him. Atul also requested the court several times to introduce his son. He even asked Nikita to fix a time when he could talk to his son on video call. Nikita never allowed his son to meet him.
Bengaluru ACP said- Nikita in judicial custody for 14 days, investigation continues. After the death of Atul Subhash, Marathahalli Police of Bengaluru is investigating this case. Police have seized a suicide note, laptop, mobile phone and other documents from Atul’s house. With the permission of the court, the evidence found from Atul’s house is being examined closely.
Investigation found that Atul had already written down the passwords of all the electronic gadgets, which made it easier for the police to collect evidence.
Dainik Bhaskar spoke to ACP Priyadarshini at Marathahalli police station. He told, ‘Atul’s family had lodged an FIR against three members of his family including Nikita. Nikita has been interrogated. At present, the investigation is going on.
Hearing in Nikita vs Atul case now on 12th and 29th January Nikita had already withdrawn the divorce case, on which the court had granted bail to Atul. Serious cases like section 302 (murder) and section 377 (unnatural sex) were registered against Atul. Nikita had withdrawn after giving him another application. At present, both of them were appearing in cases related to domestic violence, dowry harassment and child rearing, but on December 9, Atul committed suicide.
A case of 306 (abetment of suicide) has been registered against Nikita in Bengaluru. Now Nikita will have to go to his hearing also. This case is new against him. In the rest of Jaunpur, they will have to come to every hearing for their cases like before.
There is a hearing on January 12, 2025 in a case related to Atul and Nikita’s son. Whereas, the next date of the second case of dowry harassment and violence is January 29, 2025.
