There has been a controversy over a statement by Mamta government minister Firhad Hakim in West Bengal. Addressing a program, Firhad said that today Muslims may be a minority. But the time will come when we will also be in majority. We don’t have to light candles for justice.

On December 13, Firhad Hakim had attended a program related to minority students in Kolkata. Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Minister Hakim while addressing the program said- In West Bengal, we are 33 percent and in the entire country we are 17 percent. We may be numerically in the minority, but by the grace of Allah, we may be so strong that we will not need to light a candle for justice. We will be in a position where our voices will automatically be heard and our calls for justice will be heard.

Firhad said- number of Muslim judges should increase in Judiciary In the programme, Firhad also spoke on the low representation of Muslims in the judiciary. Pointing to the select number of Muslim justices in the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court, Hakim suggested that this gap can be bridged through empowerment and hard work. Hakim said- We believe that members of the minority community work together with other communities to facilitate the progress of the nation.

BJP MP said – This speech is like creating a situation like Bangladesh TMC leader Firhad Hakim is openly inciting communal hatred and pushing a dangerous agenda. This is not just hate speech. This is like creating a Bangladesh like situation in India. Why is the Indie Alliance silent? I challenge them to express their opinion on this. Our country will not tolerate such threats to its unity and integrity.

BJP said – Hakeem wants Muslims to take justice into their own hands

BJP’s IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya criticized Firhad’s statement. He wrote on social media – Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim has claimed that West Bengal will soon become Muslim majority. Hakeem envisions a future where Muslims will no longer rely on peaceful protests or marches, but will take justice into their own hands. It seems he is pointing towards Sharia law.

This situation is very worrying. Large parts of Kolkata, especially slum areas, are dominated by illegal infiltrators, including Rohingyas. Hakim’s statement seems to indicate that the number of illegal immigrants will increase further. This may cause demographic change.
