The Biochemistry Fully Automated Machine of the Pathology Lab operated in Lakhisarai Sadar Hospital has been malfunctioning for the last several days, due to which the tests related to liver, kidney and lipid profile have been disrupted. The main reason for machine breakdown is instability in power supply and dilapidation of the lab.
.
Problems of patients increased
Due to machine breakdown, hundreds of patients are forced to get tested in private labs every day. The cost of testing in private labs is Rs 2000 or more, which financially weak patients are not able to afford. With the help of biochemistry machine, it is possible to diagnose more than 100 diseases, but due to its malfunction, hospital services are at a standstill.
Technical flaws and lack of solutions
According to the lab technician, special earthing is required for the machine to work properly, but this system is not available in the hospital. Due to dilapidated wiring and uncontrolled power supply, the machine is breaking down again and again. Engineers were called from Patna, but despite repeated efforts the technical problem could not be solved.
Management claims and responsibilities
The hospital administration has assured to continue efforts to repair the machine. Special earthing and wiring correction is required to prevent the machine from frequent breakdown. The administration has also expressed concern about the problem of irregular power supply.
Dependence on private labs
Due to machine malfunction, patients have to resort to private labs. For poor patients, this is causing financial burden as well as delay in treatment.
Demand for necessary action
The problem of dilapidated wiring and earthing of the lab should be resolved as soon as possible. Stable power supply must be ensured for the safety of the machine. Until the machine is repaired, alternative testing facilities should be provided for patients. The problems faced by patients due to negligence and technical shortcomings of the hospital administration highlight the plight of health services. There is a need to take immediate steps for a permanent solution to this problem.
