BPSC candidates announced bandh today i.e. 30th December. Due to this bandh, protests by candidates are continuing not only in the capital Patna but also in Darbhanga, Arwal and Arrah districts. In protest, passenger train was stopped in Arrah and Sampark Kranti was also stopped for 1 hour in Darbhanga.
The police removed the protesters and got the train dispatched.
Police lathicharge late night, road jam in the morning
Student organizations have demonstrated by blocking roads in Arrah, Bettiah and Samastipur. The protesters blocked the Samastipur-Patna road. Many vehicles got stuck due to the jam. After 3 hours the police got the jam cleared. All India Students Association (AISA) and Inquilabi Naujawan Sabha (RYA) are involved in this demonstration.
On Sunday i.e. yesterday, KoBPSC candidates had come to protest at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. By evening, these candidates reached Golambar to surround the Chief Minister’s residence. To stop the candidates, they were sprayed with water cannons and when they did not move, the police lathicharged them.

Students said- now there will be no talks
Student BPSC candidates are still adamant on their demand of re-conducting 70th Prelims. The injured candidate said that the police had beaten him a lot. There will be no conversation now. Our agitation will end only after the examination is cancelled.
An FIR has been registered against 21 named and 600 unidentified people including Prashant Kishor, his party Jansuraj President Manoj Bharti, former IPS officer Anand Mishra, coaching director Himanshu Mishra regarding the protest on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Prashant Kishore had reached Gardnibagh late on Sunday night to meet the BPSC candidates. He said, ‘You ask for blankets from us and you are taking leadership from us.’ After this the candidates got angry. The candidates said- ‘You go away from here. Why have you come after getting beaten? Police detained 12 candidates including coaching operator Rahmanshu during the lathicharge. At the same time, the health of a candidate deteriorated, who was immediately admitted to the hospital by the police.
BPSC candidates demand cancellation of 70th PT exam
These are the main demands of the candidates from the Commission
- BPSC’s 70th PT exam should be cancelled. The test should be taken again.
- There should be one examination and one result, so that justice can be done to all the candidates.
- How can the Commission take the test of the same examination twice? This is wrong.
- The merit list will be affected if the same examination is conducted twice.
- If the examination was held separately at a centre, then the questions of the examination held at the 911 center and the examination to be held on January 4 cannot be the same.
- If the questions of the examination to be held on January 4 are made easy then it will not be fair to other candidates.
Lathicharge was also done on Wednesday 25th December
5 pm. A large number of students had gathered in front of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) office and were protesting sitting on the ground. Suddenly the police started lathi charge on these students. Girls were also included among the students, on whom the police lathicharged. The video of this incident went viral on social media by late evening.
The police dispersed the students sitting on the ground with batons.
40 students injured, 8 including 1 woman reached hospital
Actually, more than 250 candidates had come to surround the BPSC office. According to the candidates, as soon as the information about the siege was received, the police immediately started lathi charge without any prior information or using water cannon. As soon as the lathicharge took place, a stampede broke out.
BPSC candidate Rohit Kumar told that about 40 students were injured in the lathicharge. 8 candidates including a woman were admitted to the hospital.
Demonstration from December 13 demanding cancellation of Bihar 70th PT exam
Candidates were demanding cancellation of BPSC 70th PT exam. This examination was held on 13 December. The candidates had alleged irregularities in the examination and said that the paper of the examination held at Bapu Center was leaked during the day itself. The Commission had also accepted the irregularities and had asked for re-examination.
On the same day, a candidate who was protesting was slapped by Patna Collector Dr Chandrashekhar Singh. There was an uproar over this also.
DM Chandrashekhar Singh told Dainik Bhaskar the next day that he had reached the center to investigate the complaint of paper leak.
Only after this the protests started. Candidates say that if re-examination is held only at one centre, then there may be irregularities in normalization and it will be injustice to all the other candidates.
‘We are not criminals’- BPSC Candidate
BPSC candidate Dipankar, who was involved in the protest, says, ’20-25 candidates were sitting peacefully in front of the commission. Demonstration in front of the Commission is not allowed but the Commission was not listening to our demands so we had to go there. The candidates were sitting there peacefully, when suddenly the police came and without any information started lathicharge on us.
We are not criminals, FIR has been lodged against us. The protesters are not criminals, they are candidates who had gathered to fight for their rights. There was no women police there and they even lathicharged the women candidates.
Candidate Dipankar, who was involved in the BPSC protest, told Dainik Bhaskar, ‘Hundreds of candidates were protesting in Gardanibagh since December 18, but it had no effect on the Commission. No official or administrative officer of the Commission even once tried to understand our problem. That is why we decided that we will protest outside the Commission.

‘We will keep fighting until the exams are cancelled’
Will this demonstration end now? In response to this question, Dipankar says, ‘No, this protest will not end until the exams are cancelled. This will be discrimination against BPSC candidates. This will affect the result. This has happened before also when the exam has been cancelled.
The commission said that the examination will be held again on January 4.
BPSC Chairman said that instead of canceling the entire examination, the Commission will conduct the examination at those centers where irregularities were reported. The Commission said that the examination will be held on January 4 at the center where the paper was leaked. Its admit cards can be downloaded from 27th December. This time the exam will be taken at some other centre.
SP said case registered against 250 unknown people
City SP Central Sweety Sehrawat said that there is a ban on protesting outside the BPSC office. They were asked to go to Gardnibagh protest site and protest. When they did not agree after explaining, they were chased away using mild force. SHO Sanjeev Kumar said that a case has been registered against 250 unknown people.
Priyanka Gandhi- People seeking jobs were lathicharged.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi condemned the lathi charge on BPSC candidates. Criticizing the BJP, he said, ‘The only aim of the ruling party is to save its power and whoever asks for employment is tortured.’
Pappu Yadav said on lathicharge- exam should be canceled
In Purnia, MP Pappu Yadav has announced bandh in Bihar demanding cancellation of 70th BPSC exam. The independent MP said, ‘If the government does not cancel the entire BPSC exam, we will shut down Bihar on January 1.’
