The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday welcomed Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s order to investigate the matter of gathering information under the guise of ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’. The saffron party said that if any woman registered for this scheme becomes a victim of cyber crime, then Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal will be responsible for it. The Lieutenant Governor’s office said on Saturday that Saxena ordered an investigation against people collecting personal information of women in the name of the scheme.
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal had termed the probe order as a ‘sham’ and said the monthly payment of Rs 2,100 under the scheme was an election promise.
BJP Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva, while addressing reporters, said that Kejriwal should clarify whether the Delhi government has passed a proposal to give Rs 2,100 every month under this scheme.
He alleged, “If any cyber crime happens to the women of Delhi, the entire responsibility for it will be on Kejriwal, who has committed the crime of collecting personal information of women in the name of ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’.”
Claim of registration of more than 22 lakh women
AAP workers are registering women under this scheme.
Kejriwal said that women are fully supporting this scheme and till now more than 22 lakh women have registered themselves.
“Kejriwal has been serving lies to the people of Delhi for the last 10 years and has failed to fulfill any of his promises,” Sachdeva alleged.
He pointed to the AAP supremo’s “unfulfilled promise” of giving Rs 1,000 per month to women in Punjab, which was announced by Kejriwal ahead of the 2022 assembly elections in the state.
Use of women’s issue in elections!
Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of using women’s issues only for electoral gains and called on him to learn from BJP-led states on how to quietly and effectively implement programs to support women.
He highlighted schemes like ‘Mahtari Shakti Loan Scheme’ in Chhattisgarh, ‘Ladli Lakshmi Yojana’ in Madhya Pradesh, ‘Lado Lakshmi Yojana’ in Haryana and ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ in Maharashtra.
BJP MP from South Delhi Ramveer Singh Bidhuri also welcomed the inquiry order and said AAP’s politics of ‘lies, deception and fraud’ should be stopped.
