The swearing-in of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers took place in Mumbai on 5 December.

The cabinet expansion of Fadnavis government in Maharashtra will take place on December 15. According to sources, the swearing-in ceremony of the ministers will be held in Nagpur. In this, 30 to 32 ministers can take oath. The Maharashtra cabinet can have a maximum of 43 members including the Chief Minister.

Sources say that BJP is likely to get 20-21 ministerial posts. Whereas Shiv Sena may get 11-12 ministerial posts and Nationalist Congress Party may get 9-10 ministerial posts. Chief Minister Fadnavis himself will call potential ministers to take oath.

Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday held separate discussions with Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar to finalize the cabinet. Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar have given the list of their ministers to Chief Minister Fadnavis.

CM Fadnavis had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament on 12 December.

Names of possible ministers in the cabinet

NCP-Ajit faction: Names of Girwal-Bharane along with 5 old ministers in discussion

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the names of Chhagan Bhujbal, Dhananjay Munde, Dharam Rao Baba, Aditi Tatkare, Anil Patil, who were ministers in the previous government, will remain. Dilip Walse Patil has already refused while Hasan Mushrif’s card may be cut. According to sources, Narhari Jirwal and Dutta Bharne may get ministerial posts.

Shiv Sena Shinde faction: Gogwale, Shirsat, Khotkar may get a chance

Shinde has retained the names of Uday Samant, Shambhuraje Desai, Dada Bhuse, Gulabrao Patil. Spokespersons Sanjay Shirsat, Pratap Sarnaik, Bharat Gogwale, Vijay Shivtare, Arjun Khotkar may also get a chance.

Names of Munde, Mungantiwar and Patil included from BJP

The names of Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Chandrakant Patil, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Pankaja Munde are at the top in the cabinet. The names of Meghna Bordikar, Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar, Ravindra Chavan, Radhakrishna Patil, Girish Mahajan, Atul Save, Parinay Phuke and Sanjay Kute are also included. BJP has decided to give a chance to some new faces.

Cabinet expansion stuck for 10 days regarding Home Ministry

  • According to sources, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis held the Home Ministry in the Shinde government. He does not want to leave this ministry. On the other hand, Shinde group argues that if we are getting the post of Deputy CM, then they should also get the Home Ministry.
  • BJP wants to keep home, revenue, higher education, law, energy, rural development with itself. He has offered health, urban development, public works, industry to Shiv Sena. NCP has offered departments like finance, planning, cooperation, agriculture to Ajit faction.
