A grocery shopkeeper was cheated by two youths in the Civil Line area of the city. One miscreant made away with ration worth thousands, while his companion was caught by the people, who was later handed over to the police.

According to the information, Yogendra Singh, who runs a shop in the name of Maa Sharda Grocery Stores in Civil Line area, was cheated by two youths on Sunday night. However, a young man was caught by the shopkeeper and other local people and handed over to the police.
Shopkeeper Yogendra Singh, who was the victim of fraud, told that on Sunday evening at around 6.30 pm, two youths came to his shop, one of them informed about the Barhau program being held at the house and asked for a bag of arhar dal. When the shopkeeper informed that there was no bag of pulses, he got 5 kg of arhar dal, 6 kg of moong dal and 20 kg of rice weighed. He also took some other items. After packing the goods worth about Rs 2775, he left the shop, saying that he would keep the sack in the car and return and pay the money, while one of his companions remained at the shop. When he did not return for a long time, Yogendra went out and looked, but the young man was nowhere to be seen. When he asked his companion, he also expressed ignorance.
Along with giving information to the nearby shopkeepers, the shopkeeper also informed the police on dial 100. After about 2 hours, the Civil Line Police reached the spot, interrogated the arrested youth and took him to the city police station.

The youth who was caught told the police that his friend Amit Soni had brought him to sit with him. He said he had to buy groceries. He bought groceries in the shop and ran away with the goods on the pretext of keeping the sack. Both are residents of PM Awas Colony located in Utaili. He also showed the photo of Amit Soni on his mobile phone.
The caught young man told the police that now when he is calling Amit to give money to the shopkeeper for the goods, he is abusing and threatening him. The City Kotwali Police is investigating the incident and trying to find out whether the two youths had really cheated the shopkeeper together or whether the caught youth has also become a victim of his friend’s actions.
