Earlier, the reinstatement order had come from the Center on December 12. The Union Home Ministry had given this order on the basis of the decision of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). The Home Ministry, canceling the suspension order issued on July 20, 2023, reinstated him to his post from the same date.





Know on what basis the court gave service
On the basis of the ongoing cases against GP Singh, he was removed from his job. After this, the entire matter was challenged by Singh in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), a kind of judicial commission of IPS-IAS officers.
Gurjinder Pal Singh (GP Singh), a 1994 batch Chhattisgarh cadre officer, was retired on July 20, 2023, on the orders of the Home Ministry. This retirement was based on the report of the then Congress government in the state.
- CAT canceled the order of the Home Ministry on 10 April 2024 and ordered the reinstatement of GP Singh in service, but then the Home Ministry did not accept this order. Challenged in the Delhi High Court, but the High Court rejected the ministry’s petition on August 23.
- The Home Ministry then challenged this in the Supreme Court. The case was heard in the Supreme Court on December 10 in the division bench of Justice Hrishikesh Rai and Justice SBN Bhati.
- The Center said that three criminal cases were registered against GP Singh. The defense, on behalf of Singh, said that all three criminal cases have been quashed by the Division Bench of the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court.
- On behalf of the Centre, it was said that IPS Rahul Sharma, who was posted in Bilaspur, had committed suicide, at that time GP Singh was his senior. In this case, GP Singh was accused of putting pressure on Sharma. GP’s lawyers told that there was a CBI investigation in the case of Rahul Sharma suicide.
- CBI had presented the closure report in the CBI court without finding any facts in this case, even after which the then Congress government had deliberately formed an investigation team. Delhi CAT has termed the investigation committee as against the rules.
- As a third fact, the Center said that only 6 numbers have been given in the service ACR of GP Singh. GP’s advocate told that the ACR was challenged in Delhi CAT, on which the order of CAT has been amended from number 6 to number eight.
- After hearing this, the Supreme Court gave instructions to restore the service and the Home Ministry has now issued an order.
