Muslim Population: A new research has estimated that the population of Muslims worldwide is expected to increase by more than 1.16 billion or 1,161,780,000. This will not happen in the next 100 or 200 years but in the next few decades. The world’s fastest growing religions include Islam, Christianity, Hinduism and Judaism. According to a study conducted by ‘Pew Research Center’, the global Muslim population is estimated to exceed two billion by 2050, which will make Muslims the largest religious community in the world.

According to the report, Islam is currently the second largest religion in the world, with a population of 1,599,700,000 as per 2010 report. The religion will add 1,161,780,000 more people to its population in the next 25 years, taking the Muslim population to more than two billion by the year 2050. After this Islam will become the most prominent religion globally. That means the annual population of Islam religion will increase by 2 crore 90 lakhs. If seen on monthly basis, it will be Rs 24 lakh.

According to the report, Christianity is currently the largest religious community in the world. Its total population is 2,168,330,000 Christians, i.e. about 31.4 percent of the total global population. It is estimated that by 2050 it will increase by about 80 crores. The report says that with this, Christians will reach second place in the global list of largest religious communities. The report said the population of Christians will be 2,918,070,000 by 2050, a difference of 74,97,40,000 from 2010 to 2050.

Why is Muslim population increasing rapidly?

The report said that Muslims and Christians have very high fertility rates in developing countries. Whereas the death rate is low, due to which their population is increasing rapidly. In its 2010 report, Pew Research Center revealed that 34 percent of the world’s Muslim population is under the age of 15. Whereas 60 percent are between 15 and 59 years. Only 7 percent are age 60 or older. Most Muslims live in Africa and the Middle East, where global population growth rates are projected to be highest. India is now becoming the largest center of Muslim community.

At the same time, according to the report, the population of Hindu religion was 103 crores in the year 2010, which will increase to 138 crores in the year 2050.
