A baby was born to a couple in 2021, but they were not able to name him even till December 2024 because both of them did not agree on each other’s name! It took three years to obtain a birth certificate with a name they both agreed to. But this name was given to him neither by his mother nor by his father, rather the court gave him this name.

Since the birth of the child, the mother started calling him ‘Adi’, but the father wanted to name him after Lord Shani. It was surprising that the husband did not come to meet his wife from the beginning of her pregnancy till the birth of the child. The husband did not agree to the name given by the wife. So till this Saturday, none of his names could be registered in any government agency as a birth record.

The couple was not able to find any middle path, so the wife took refuge in the court and demanded maintenance from the husband under Section 125 of CrPC. The couple from Hunsur near Mysore left the task of choosing the perfect name to a group of judges and other judicial officials who chose a name for their three-year-old child.

This Saturday, the court finally chose the name ‘Aryavardhan’ for the child and after this decision, the husband and wife, who were on the verge of divorce, became united, both of them hugged each other and left behind their three years old differences. .

Take another example. This also happened on this Saturday. Chhathu Prasad alias Golu Turha, who runs a vegetable shop in the local Maniyar market of Ballia, reached the police station with a placard hanging around his neck, on which it was written, “After today, I will not abuse any girl or woman.”

The police released him after giving strict instructions. To encourage school and college going girls to raise their voice against such miscreants, the police has started Anti Romeo Operation and it has started yielding good results. He came under the police radar when a local man complained that he used to make noises at girls passing in front of his vegetable shop.

Because of this, his daughter and other women and girls passing by have to leave with their heads bowed in shame. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case. When the criminal came to know that the police was searching for him, he surrendered.

These two examples are a reflection of the changing society. In the first case the ego between husband and wife came to the fore. A couple is seeking separation on the grounds of inability to reach consensus. What should be the name of your baby after bringing him into the world? really?

In a world where hundreds of names and their meanings are revealed at a single click, do we really need to trouble the honorable courts on such matters? The village head or the eldest person in the family could have easily resolved this issue.

The second case shows two aspects of society. Our falling values in terms of parenting and how many of us are indifferent to the conditions around us. Don’t know how much his habits will improve after this surrender, but remember that his step was only due to fear. I don’t know whether he even realizes that he has made a terrible mistake.

At least as a society we could have boycotted his shop. The courts and police are overloaded with work. We should also play a role and make the next generation generous towards other human beings, especially towards women, so that the workload can be reduced on them.

The bottom line is that A strong society does not take small issues to court and police station. Our social fabric used to deal with such issues earlier but somehow this has been lost in the modern world.
