Problems in Agriculture: There are many problems in farming and it is not necessary that the cost is covered and even if the profit is earned, sometimes it is very less. Regarding this, one Puranlal shared his farming problems. He told that despite the expensive cost and low rates, he grows cabbage crop. Prices keep changing in Ballabhgarh Mandi, while the survival of the family has become difficult due to inflation and rising wage rates. He told that he is a resident of Bareilly and is currently living in Malerana village. His farm is on lease and there he has planted cabbage crop in two and a half bighas.
There are 25 people in the family of farmer Puranlal and they live in Malerana village. Due to the condition of their farming and inflation, it has become difficult for the entire family to earn a living, but still they continue farming with their hard work and struggle.
Cost of field plowing and seeds
The farmer told that to plant the cabbage crop, first the field is plowed and then the seeds are sown. The cost of seeds in two and a half bigha is approximately Rs 5000. Apart from this, there is also a process of planting saplings in the field, which increases the quality of the crop. The seed packet weighs approximately 10 grams and only then does the hard work bear fruit. After this the cabbage is taken to the market.
Rate and wage situation in the market
Cabbage crop is sold in Ballabhgarh market. However, the farmer said that the rates vary greatly in the market. Sometimes they get Rs 20, sometimes Rs 25, and sometimes up to Rs 40, but farmers do not get much benefit from this. The wage rate is also Rs 500 per day, but the savings are very less compared to investment in the crop. There is also additional expenditure on fertiliser, seeds, medicines and irrigation which overall does not yield much profit.
Inflation and care of cabbage crop
Referring to inflation, the farmer said that the cost of fertilizers, DAP and pesticides in cabbage crop has increased a lot. Apart from this, there is also the problem of insects in cabbage, for which medicines have to be used. The cabbage crop is prepared in three months, and during this period irrigation has to be done two to three times.
Business Idea: Consumption happens 12 months of the year, farmers can earn lakhs by farming, government is also giving seeds for free.
