Even though the cleanliness system in the city is the responsibility of three agencies each. Despite this, every street and locality has become a heap of garbage. Due to this, common people are worried. There are heaps of filth in the vacant plots of most of the wards of the city. Local people allege that agencies never collect garbage from vacant plots. Due to which the people nearby are forced to live amidst the foul smell.
This is the situation when the Municipal Council spends Rs 36.44 lakh per month in the name of cleanliness. This includes everything from door-to-door garbage collection to cleaning and sweeping of streets and roads. This amount is for cleaning only 22 wards. Whereas the remaining 12 wards are cleaned by the city council with its resources and employees.
Municipal Council Chairman Indradev Paswan said that as per the rules, drains are cleaned and swept every year. This work is ensured before the rains. People will also have to be aware about this. The drain is getting clogged due to throwing of garbage and polythene. The NPP Chairman said that an investigation will be conducted into the vacant places of the wards and accumulation of garbage on the roadside. If found guilty, action will be taken against the concerned agency.
