Delhi Assembly Election 2025: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Approval has been obtained to prosecute senior Congress leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in the disproportionate assets (DA) case. The CBI told a Delhi court on Monday (January 13) that it has obtained the necessary sanction to prosecute Jain in a disproportionate assets case. CBI gave this information to Special Judge Jitendra Singh. He has fixed January 22 for hearing on the matter.

Justice Singh said that a supplementary charge sheet was filed against Jain in the case on January 4. The CBI alleges that Satyendar Jain acquired assets worth more than Rs 1.62 crore from his known sources of income while working as a public servant between February 14, 2015 and May 31, 2017.

Jain and other accused are currently out on bail. A supplementary charge sheet has been filed after further investigation. On November 5 last year, the investigating officer had said that further investigation in the instant case has been completed and the file has been sent to the appropriate authority for approval. It was further said that they will file supplementary charge sheet after getting the approval. One month’s time was asked for this.

The court observed that the FIR registered in this case was registered on August 24, 2017. After this, the charge sheet was filed on December 3, 2018. After summoning the accused, the case was listed for examination of documents. The additional accused was summoned on January 5, 2023. Meanwhile, further investigation was conducted by the CBI and the same was reported to the court on November 10, 2023, through an application dated November 9, 2023.

On December 12, 2023, the CBI said in a status report that further investigation is likely to be completed in two months. After this, CBI asked for one month’s time to complete the investigation. Similarly, again one month’s time was asked. After this, an adjournment was again sought by the CBI on September 5, 2024 on the grounds that approval was pending with the CBI Director. The court had directed the DIG to file a status report regarding the sanction before the next hearing so that the case could be proceeded with expeditiously.
