Now an important question is whether the government will increase the time for investment in Mahila Samman Certificate in the budget. However, there has been no official statement from the government on this. But it is expected that in the budget, the government may extend the timeline for investing in Mahila Samman Certificate.
Interest of Mahila Samman Saving Certificate
Indian women of any age can open an account and invest under this scheme. The scheme is also available for minor girls, where their legal guardians can open the account. This scheme gives an interest of 7.5% annually. This interest comes quarterly in the women’s bank account. On maturity after 2 years, interest will be given along with the principal. Interest is exempted under Income Tax Act 80C, but TDS is deducted on interest income.
Scheme makes women rich in 2 years
By investing Rs 2 lakh in a period of 2 years, you get Rs 2.32 lakh on maturity. Women can invest a minimum of Rs 1000 and in multiples of Rs 100. The account can be closed on the death of the account holder. The account can be closed without any reason after six months of opening, but the interest will be 2% less i.e. 5.5% interest. 40% of the money can be withdrawn after 1 year of account opening.
