Maharashtra News: A shocking case has come to light from Maharashtra, where a man suddenly entered his niece’s wedding reception and mixed poison in the food prepared for the guests. This surprising case is from Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. According to the report, the accused man mixed poison in the food prepared for the guests at his niece’s wedding reception because he was against her marriage. However, no one ate the food, thus averting a major accident, police said on Wednesday (January 8).
Food samples have been sent for testing. The incident took place in Utre village of Panhala tehsil on Tuesday (January 8) afternoon, a police officer told PTI. While mixing the poison, some people caught the accused, but he managed to escape. Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kondubhairi of Panhala police station said that Panhala police has registered a case against a person named Mahesh Patil, resident of Utre village, on charges of endangering the lives of people. The accused is the maternal uncle of the woman.
The girl lived with her maternal uncle
According to the police, the girl grew up in her maternal uncle’s house. “The girl had recently eloped with a young man from the village and married him. However, this was not acceptable to Patil, so he barged into the wedding reception held at a marriage hall on Tuesday,” Kondubhairi said. He then mixed poisonous substance in the food being prepared for the guests.”
Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kondubhairi said that when the accused Mama Patil was mixing poisonous substance in the food, the people present around him tried to stop him. People also caught him, but later he ran away from there.
Search for the accused continues
“He fled from the spot. We have booked him under sections 286 (negligence in relation to poisonous substance), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and other relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS),” Kondubhairy said. A case has been registered under the provisions.”
He said that efforts are on to nab the accused. Police said that no one ate the food in which poisonous substance was mixed. His samples have been sent to the forensic lab. At present, the report is awaited.
Earlier, recently in Marathwada, a man angry over his friendship with a boy had killed his 17-year-old cousin by pushing her into a ditch. This incident of honor killing has shaken the city. The police have arrested the suspected cousin. The deceased have been identified as Namrata Ganeshrao Sherkar (17) and her accused cousin Rishikesh alias Vaibhav Tanaji Sherkar (25, Waddagaon).
