The news agency PTI quoted the officials as saying that Rajouri’s additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa and his two employees were seriously injured. He was taken to the Government Medical College, where Thapa died.
Expressing his condolences on X, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote, “We heartbreaking from Rajouri. We have lost a dedicated officer of Jammu and Kashmir Administration Service. I have no words on this terrible life loss. May his soul be peaceful.”
Let me tell you that just one day ago, Thapa visited the district with the Deputy Chief Minister and attended an official virtual meeting organized by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Chief Minister Abdullah also met the family of the deceased officer after the accident.
Raj Kumar Thapa won an MBBS degree from Jammu Government Medical College in 1989. Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa was born in 1971. In 2001, he joined the service.
The head of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti also expressed his condolences on Thapa’s tragic death. He said, “Additional DCs in Rajouri, a brave officer – Raj Kumar Thapa in Rajouri have been very sad to hear about the tragic death. The war is always a tragedy, but it becomes even more sad when innocent citizens including children suffer the brunt of this foolish violence.”
People of Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Jammu, Udhampur and Rajouri, said that they heard a loud blasts in the morning, as the Pakistani army targeted civil and military areas along the Line of Control. Heavy shelling is also reported from Akhnoor, Gurez, Uri, Hamirpur and Pallanwala.
The Pakistani drone was intercepted in Jammu for the second consecutive night, while firing from Pakistan started again in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, including tails, samba and Uri.
