What’s New in OneUI 8

There are not many changes coming to the One UI 8, since One UI 7 has significant upgrades over One UI 6. However, considering Google’s Android 16 is a huge leap in terms of design, Samsung has its own design language for One UI 7, and we are not expecting Samsung to adopt a drastic change in the One UI 8 either.

So, for now, after testing the beta and using it for a while, here are the top changes that are coming to the One UI 8. Before that, here is the full change log of the update.

Top Three Changes Coming to OneUI 8

1. Advanced split-screen multitasking

Samsung is going to bring an advanced multitasking split-screen feature in One UI 8. It allows you to split the screen based on the size you want. It is very similar to the OnePlus Open Canvas, which allows you to place and resize that tab to any size you want, and you can fit multiple tabs on one screen for easy multitasking.

Plus, you can also resize the app to the size you want in multitasking. This new multitasking is a part of the Android 16 feature, and it is coming to the One UI 8, and we might also see it on other devices running on Android 16 soon.

2. Updates to the Quick Share and also Samsung Reminder app

Samsung has specifically highlighted the new Reminder app interface, which is now completely changed compared to the previous design.

From adding reminders to viewing reminders, everything about the user interface has been upgraded to match the latest interface of One UI 8.

Next, another small change coming to One UI 8 is the change in the interface of Quick Share, which now brings a whole new full-screen experience when you use Quick Share on One UI 8.

3. Find Downloads by App

Another handy addition to the OneUI 8 is the search and download from individual apps. Mobile download managers can easily get cluttered with unwanted downloads, which makes it hard to search and find the right file.

Fortunately, Samsung is trying to fix this with new find downloads by app feature in OneUI 8 that lets you search downloads based on the app that downloaded the file.

For instance, you can search files downloaded by WhatsApp, Chrome, or even from other apps. Although this is a small addition, it fixes the biggest confusion for Android downloads.

In addition to these, Samsung also improved text selection, faster, better Samsung DeX support, and more. Here is the full changelog for the update.

Apart from these, we haven’t noticed any drastic changes on the OneUI 8. We will use this version extensively and create a dedicated post highlighting the important changes in the coming days.

Samsung One UI 8 Update Tracker

Samsung OneUI 7 is a major jump for its operating system, bringing significant changes to both UI and design. Because of this, there are not many features that are interesting in the One UI 8 apart from the new Reminders app, the new Quick Share screen, and the OnePlus-like Open Canvas features for multitasking.

Samsung’s smartphone lineup is huge, which makes it harder to track updates for these devices. To help these users, every time we track the Samsung major updates like One UI 7, and now it’s time for One UI 8.
