In Puducherry, a 33 -year -old man allegedly ended his life due to increasing pressure from private moneylenders. According to reports, the deceased, who was the local worker of the Tamilaga Vattri Kazhagam (TVK), had to pay a huge interest of Rs 38,000 every month on a loan of Rs 3.8 lakh. TVK is a political organization, which has recently launched by Tamil actor Vijay.
The police have also received a suicide note of the deceased, in which he has requested actor Vijay to take care of his family after his death.
According to the information, the deceased used to run a small business and also worked at a chicken shop. Due to an accident, he was paralyzed and lying in bed. Because of this, he was unable to work and could not even repay the debt.
Accused of atrocities of moneylenders
According to police sources, in the suicide note, the deceased has named several moneylenders and alleged that they forced him to commit suicide. According to the NDTV report, he was under great stress due to the moneylenders not paying interest.
The suicide note mentions a moneylender who told the deceased to send his wife and daughter to his home until he repays his debt. It was also written in the note that he had to pay interest of Rs 38,000 every month on a loan of Rs 3.8 lakh. Interest was being charged Rs 6,000 per month on a loan of another Rs 30,000, which is equal to about 20% monthly interest rate. After the deceased was paralyzed, the moneylenders started harassing him more.
Actor Vijay requested for the help of family
The helpless and distressed youth requested actor Vijay to take care of his wife and daughter in suicide note. The police is investigating whether the young man took this step due to constant threat and harassment on behalf of the moneylenders.
The police have started the identification of the moneylenders and their acts, but no one has been arrested yet.
