On Sunday, a very tragic accident took place in the famous mother Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar. There was a sudden stampede in the midst of a huge crowd, in which 6 people lost their lives and dozens were injured. The accident happened when the rumor of the current spreading on the stairs of the temple spread rapidly, causing panic among the people and a stampede -like situation.
According to the police and administration, the incident took place about 100 meters below the temple. SSP Pramendra Singh Dobal of Haridwar informed that in the initial investigation, the rumor is being considered as the cause of stampede. Of the injured, 35 have been admitted to the hospital, out of which 6 have been confirmed.
Expressing deep grief over the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and said that the administration is providing all possible help to the victim families. At the same time, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also described the incident as unfortunate and said that SDRF and police teams are present on the spot and relief and rescue operations are going on.
