If you applied for Aadhaar before 1 October 2024 and your PAN card is made based on the same Aadhaar Enrollment ID, then there is a relief news for you. The government has given such people till 31 December 2025 to link PAN and Aadhaar. Those who have been released on the basis of the old application form of Aadhaar, have now been given their Aadhaar number information to the Income Tax Department till 31 December 2025.

However, the last date for all other PAN card holders to link to Aadhaar without fine was 30 June 2023. Now if someone wants to do a linking, then he will have to pay a penalty of Rs 1,000.

How to link?

The process of linking PAN and Aadhaar can be done in both online and offline methods.

Online: You can easily link by visiting the official website of Income Tax Department.

Offline: Annexure-i form will have to be filled by visiting any service center in NSDL or Utiitsl. Together, a copy of PAN and Aadhaar card will also have to be taken.

Before linking PAN and Aadhaar, make sure that the name, date of birth and gender recorded in both are the same. If there is any difference in these details, the linking may be rejected. In such a situation, you will have to improve either Aadhaar or PAN.

This update is special for those who are new PAN holders and whose PAN is made on the basis of Aadhaar Enrollment ID. Such people do not need to panic, they have now got time till December 2025.

If the rest of the people have not been able to link PAN and Aadhaar yet, then they should complete this work as soon as possible, so that there is no problem in future.
