Who is CP Radhakrishnan: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board has declared Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as a candidate for the post of Vice President from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Bharatiya Janata Party President and Union Minister JP Nadda announced this on Sunday (August 17), saying that in the parliamentary party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a decision was taken after Radhakrishnan after extensive deliberations.
JP Nadda hoped that the opposition party would support the NDA candidate. Last month, Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as Vice President. The election for the post of Vice President will be held on 9 September. The last date for filing nomination for this is 22 August.
The NDA has an absolute majority in the Vice Presidential elections. It consists of members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The victory of the ruling coalition candidate is certain in the event of the contest. This election has to be held due to sudden resignation from the post of Vice President, citing the health reasons of Jagdeep Dhankhar.

He has been the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Tamil Nadu from 2004 to 2007 before becoming the Governor of Jharkhand. Apart from this, he was the All India in -charge of BJP Kerala from 2020 to 2022. He was appointed the Governor of Jharkhand on 18 February 2023.
