Officials said shocks were felt in several parts of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh after a 3.9 magnitude earthquake near Dharamshala city at 9.28 pm on Monday night. He told that the good news is that there is no news of loss of life and property from any part of the state.
A Meteorological Department official said that the earthquake was at 23 km from Dharamshala, 32.23 northern latitude and 76.38 Eastern longitude. The depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers. Kangra district comes in seismic region 5, which is a high -risk area.
Earlier, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake tremors were felt in Nagaon, Assam on Monday. This is the seventh time when earthquake tremors have been felt in the state this month. While earthquake tremors have occurred for the third time in the district. The officer told PTI that there is no immediate news about the loss of life and property from the earthquake.
According to the National Earthquake Science Center, the intensity of the earthquake on the Richter scale was measured at 4.3. The earthquake occurred at 12.15 pm and it was at a depth of 35 km. The official said the earthquake tremors were felt in Nagaon and surrounding areas.
This was the third incident of Nagaon -centered earthquake this month. Earlier on August 7, an earthquake of 3.8 intensity and 2.8 magnitude was recorded on August 7. According to data from the National Earthquake Science Center, a total of seven earthquake incidents have been reported in the state this month, whose intensity was between 2.8 and 4.3 on the Richter scale. The northeastern states fall in the high seismic region. Earthquakes often occur in this area.
