Six decades after the dowry was banned in India, a 28 -year -old woman from the national capital Delhi was allegedly burnt alive for dowry by her husband and mother -in -law. It is alleged that the in -laws were pressurizing him to bring Rs 36 lakh from his house. According to NDTV, when Nikki Bhati’s father Bhikari Singh Payla was asked why he married his daughters in a family who asks for dowry. So his answer cleared the difference between law and reality.
He replied, “Weddings in our society take place only through dowry and middlemen. I too married my daughters well. This marriage took place at the time of demonetisation in 2016.”
Payla married her daughters Nikki and Kanchan on December 10, 2016 to Vipin Bhati and Rohit Bhati. During the wedding, the family gifted a Scorpio SUV, cash and gold to their son -in -law, but the demands increased over time and recently a huge amount of Rs 36 lakh was sought.
There was a fight between Nikki and Vipin on Thursday evening. During the quarrel, Vipin attacked him and allegedly set him on fire with the help of his mother Daya. After this, the police arrested Vipin, his brother Rohit and parents Daya and Satyaveer.
Nikki’s family reported that in February, when Vipin assaulted Nikki, Nikki, her sister Kanchan and both of them left their in -laws and came to her maternal home. But after the conversation between the two families and apologizing Vipin, the sisters returned.
Exactly a week ago, the same happened on Janmashtami. Then Nikki’s father and other relatives reached the Bhati family’s house when he told that he was again beaten up. After this the agreement was reached and Nikki stopped there.
Asked when he knew that Nikki was being harassed, why did he not bring him with him, Payla said, “We have to listen to the members of our society and clan.”
Demanding justice, he said, “I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to ensure that they are hanged.”
Payal, with a full voice and tears in his eyes, said, “They burnt my daughter alive and the whole family ran away. One of my daughter was burning in the fire, the other was lying unconscious. All ran away. One neighbor rushed my daughter to Fortis Hospital. The elder daughter (Kanchan) called and said, ‘Papa, Nikki was burnt.’ When we reached the hospital, the doctor said that he was sent to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
Nikki’s seven-year-old son, who saw her mother burning alive, is now with her grandmother. Payla said, “I will raise her with all my ability. He cries by remembering his mother every evening. He repeatedly says,” They burnt my mother “. We try to comfort her.”
The family said that Vipin and Rohit were unemployed and depended on their father’s grocery store. When Nikki and Kanchan started a parlor and boutique business to become financially self -sufficient and fulfill their children’s dreams, the two brothers started stealing from their earnings. For this reason, there were frequent quarrels in the house and there was a similar quarrel on Thursday, which ended on the painful murder of Nikki.
