News18 Sheshakti 2025: The Ukrainian Ambassador to India, Olena Ilchuk, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing humanitarian aid to his country during the war with Russia on Thursday (August 21). 3rd Secretary Ilchuk said this as a message for PM Modi in the Counselor Department at the Ukrainian Embassy. PM Modi has repeatedly told Russian President Vladimir Putin that this is not the era of war. Conflict with Ukraine should be resolved through interaction and dialogue. Ilchuk joined the News18 program on Thursday with the Lithuanian Ambassador Diana Micivisiene in India at the 2025.
Olena Enevoy Olena Ilchuk said, “First of all I want to thank very much for humanitarian aid from Ukraine … India is definitely the leader of Global South. We need more countries with the right side of history.” He spoke in detail about the displaced women and children in the Russia-Ukraine war. He said that many women have run away from their own country to protect their children.
He said, “Many women have fled to other countries to protect their children and to protect them from continuous shelling. It is difficult to become immigrant without a plan. Because most women do not leave the country without war. It is extremely difficult nowadays, especially for women who are trying to move forward with their general life, work, education, family, children and parents, it is very challenging.
In response to US President Donald Trump’s preference to Russian President Putin at a peace talks to end the war, Ilchuk further said that Ukraine was being bombed during his historic meeting in Alaska. He said, “When Putin was in Alaska, Ukraine was still being bombed. So you need to know everything about the so -called diplomatic efforts of Russians.”
He said, “Many of our agreements with Russia have failed in the last about 400 years, because Russians do not live up to their promises. Now you are seeing the results … It may seem that this war is happening for the ground. What is true … but if you look deeply and research on history, it has become a really an existence war.” Russian Ukrainian identity, language, mentality, or Ukrainians cannot tolerate the idea of having a separate nation and being a separate field. “
