TDP supports Radhakrishnan in Vice Presidential election, NDA candidate is Maharashtra Governor


Vice President Polls: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) General Secretary and Andhra Pradesh Information and Technology Minister Nara Lokesh met the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate CP Radhakrishnan on Tuesday (August 19). During this, he expressed his support to Radhakrishnan. An official statement said that Lokesh, who met Radhakrishnan along with TDP leaders and MPs, appreciated his comprehensive administrative experience as the Governor of many states.

He expressed confidence that Radhakrishnan’s discipline, perseverance and service would inspire the younger generation and benefit the nation in the coming years. Currently, Maharashtra Governor Radhakrishnan is the NDA candidate for the Vice Presidential election to be held on 9 September. The last date for filing nominations for the Vice Presidential election is 21 August.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has announced that former Supreme Court judge B.K. Sudarshan Reddy is a joint candidate of opposition parties for the Vice Presidential election. He also described the upcoming election for the second largest post in the country as an ideological battle.

Reddy is a former Supreme Court judge and the first Lokayukta of Goa. He will file his nomination on August 21. Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Kharge said that Reddy is one of the most prestigious and progressive jurists in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held NDA Vice Presidential candidate C.P. Praised Radhakrishnan’s work done in public life. Also appealed to all parties including the opposition to choose them unanimously. Radhakrishnan was honored by the top leaders including Prime Minister Modi and several allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party at a meeting of MPs of the ruling coalition.

Radhakrishnan can file his nomination for the election of the post of Vice President on Wednesday. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that PM Modi in his address appealed to various parties, especially the opposition to support Radhakrishnan. So that it can be ensured that their election is unanimously.

PM Modi introduced veteran BJP leader of Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra Governor Radhakrishnan to NDA MPs. Also mentioned his long public life, in which he has acted efficiently in various positions.

Prime Minister Modi also raised the issue of Indus Water Treaty in his speech. He criticized former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s Parliament or his cabinet for signing an agreement with Pakistan without taking confidence. According to sources, he said that Nehru had done so to shine his image regardless of the country’s interest.

He said that Pakistan has been allowed to use more than 80 percent water. The Modi government has postponed the treaty after the Pahalgam terror attack. Sources said that the Prime Minister said that his government is washing the sins of that era.
