Engineer Rashid: Engineer Rashid, MP from Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, has been allegedly attacked inside Delhi’s Tihar Jail. According to jail sources, transgender prisoners attacked him after a debate. After this incident, his son has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure his security. According to the information, Engineer Rashid suffered minor injuries in the incident. The incident occurred in jail number 3, where he is kept with three transgender prisoners.
Son appeals to PM and Home Minister for security
Reacting to the incident, Rashid’s son Abrar Rashid condemned the attack on Saturday and urged the central government to ensure his father’s safety. Abrar told, ‘When engineer Rashid met his lawyer today, he revealed how he was attacked inside the jail. This is very shocking not only for me and my family, but for all the people in Tihar Jail. ‘ He said, “He is not just a political prisoner but also an MP from North Kashmir, so his security should be protected.”
Accused of harassment of Kashmiri prisoners
Abrar alleging harassment and extortion inside the jail said, “Kashmiri prisoners are being kept in the jail with transgenders and gangsters, and they all bother Kashmiris, blackmail and recover from them. Some of these transgenders have also been described as HIV positive. This case should be investigated.
Rashid is in jail in terrorism funding case
Engineer Rashid was arrested in 2019 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the 2017 terrorism funding case. They have been accused under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (waging war against the government), and 124A (treason), as well as UAPA of the IPC. It is alleged in this case that Rashid funded separatists and terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
