PM Modi Punjab Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Punjab, badly affected by floods on 9 September. He will take stock of the flood situation in the state and review the ongoing relief and rescue operations. Punjab BJP has given this information in a post on X. The party said that the Prime Minister will visit Gurdaspur, where he will meet the flood affected people and farmers and share ‘their grief and take every possible step to help the victims.’
According to sources, the Prime Minister can announce a special relief package for Punjab during this visit. Apart from Punjab, other states like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have also caused heavy destruction due to floods and landslides, which can also be visited by the Prime Minister to take stock of these states.

Most of the most severe floods of decades, millions of people affected
The severe floods in Punjab have damaged heavy life and property. Officials have confirmed the death of 46 people in 14 districts till Saturday. More than 3.87 lakh people have been affected by the floods and about 2,000 villages have been submerged in water. The floods due to the boom and incessant rains in the Sutlej river have been described by the authorities in decades, which has also crossed the 1988 flood scale. Paddy and other standing crops on more than 1.75 lakh hectares of land have been completely ruined in 18 districts. Gurdaspur, Fazilka and Ferozepur are among the most affected districts.
Government and army rescue work continues
The state government has declared Punjab a disaster affected area and relief and rescue operations are going on at war level. Joint teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) have extracted more than 22,000 people from flood affected villages. More than 200 relief camps have been set up to give shelter to the displaced.
