Deepika Padukone: Deepika Padukone becomes the first 'Mental Health Ambassador' of the Government of India


Deepika Padukone: Deepika Padukone, actor and founder of The Leave Love Laugh (LLL) Foundation, has been appointed as the country’s first ‘Mental Health Ambassador’ by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). This step is an important step by the Ministry towards creating a more conducive environment for mental health in the country.

On this occasion, Shri J. P. Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, said, “This partnership with Mrs. Deepika Padukone will help spread awareness about mental health issues in India, promote general discussion on these topics and recognize mental health as an important part of public health.”

Deepika Padukone said, “I have the great honor of becoming the first mental health ambassador for the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Under the leadership of, India has given priority to mental health care. I look forward to working with the Ministry to take this work forward and strengthen the mental health of our country.”

In her new role, Deepika Padukone will work with the ministry to-

To raise awareness about mental health m and remove misconceptions associated with it.

Encouraging people to seek help and adopt prevention measures.

Promoting Tele-MANAS (Tele-Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States) and other government-implemented mental health resources.

Along with this, she will work with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to ensure that everyone can easily get help and facilities for mental health. This appointment has come at a time when Deepika Padukone’s charity, The Leave Love Laugh Foundation, has completed a journey of 10 years and has helped people during this period.

Over the past ten years, Live Love Laugh has helped more than 21,931 mentally ill people and their caregivers in 15 districts across 8 states through its flagship Rural Community Mental Health Programme. LLL has also launched new and important awareness campaigns across the country, such as “Dobara Poochho” and “NotAshamed,” as well as “You Are Not Alone” for adolescent students and “Doctors Program” for general practitioners. Recently LLL has also started Mental Health and Well Being Program for companies.
