Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch several new schemes worth more than Rs 42,000 crore for the farmers of the country on October 11, 2025. Giving this information, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that on this occasion the Prime Minister will launch two major programs – Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and Self-Reliance Mission for Pulses (Pulses Mission).
Under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana, various reform initiatives will be taken to increase agricultural production and increase the income of farmers in 100 backward and low productivity districts of the country. Through this scheme, facilities like irrigation, storage, production, agricultural credit will be improved. Under the Pulses Mission, a target has been set to increase the production of pulses from 24.2 million tonnes to 35 million tonnes by 2030-31, and there is also a plan to increase the production area so that the country becomes self-sufficient in pulses.
Under this program, more than 1,100 projects will also be inaugurated and foundation stones laid in the country, the total cost of which will be more than Rs 42,000 crore. This includes agriculture related infrastructure development including animal husbandry, fisheries, food processing. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also honor Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), cooperative societies and innovators in the agriculture sector.
This initiative of the Central Government will not only help farmers in increasing production but will also help in increasing their income, increasing the use of new technologies for agribusinesses and empowering the rural economy. This will be a major change for the Indian agriculture sector, which will strengthen food security and improve the living standards of farmers.
On this occasion, digitalization and financial linked infrastructure in the agricultural sector will also be discussed, so that farmers can easily access services and financial facilities. Also, this effort will be helpful in connecting farmers to the global market and improving the quality of agricultural products.
This step of Prime Minister Modi is being considered as an important mission towards bringing beneficial changes in the agriculture sector and making the country self-reliant in terms of food security, which will take Indian agriculture to new heights in the coming years.
