2023 से 2027 तक अगले पांच साल के चक्र के लिए आकर्षक इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग (आईपीएल) के मीडिया अधिकारों का वर्तमान में देश के कुछ शीर्ष खेल प्रसारकों द्वारा जोरदार विरोध किया जा रहा है। सूत्रों के मुताबिक टीवी और डिजिटल समेत राइट का पैकेज ए और बी 43,050 करोड़ रुपये में बेचा गया है। यह प्रत्येक आईपीएल मैच का मूल्यांकन 100 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की लागत पर रखता है, कुछ ऐसा जो भारतीय खेलों में अनसुना है।

स्टार इंडिया ने सितंबर 2017 में 16,347.50 करोड़ रुपये की बोली के साथ 2017-2022 चक्र के लिए इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के मीडिया अधिकारों को सुरक्षित करने के लिए सोनी पिक्चर्स को बाहर कर दिया था। इस सौदे के साथ, आईपीएल मैच की लागत लगभग 55 करोड़ रुपये हो गई थी।
