Relief to Tata Steel from Bombay High Court, re -evaluation notice canceled - Tata Steel Gets reliable

Tata Steel Limited announced that the Honorable Bombay High Court has canceled a notice issued by the assessment officer regarding the revaluation of taxable income for the assessment year 2019-20. The decision came during the hearing held on August 12, 2025, and the company received its order on August 16, 2025.

The Honorable Bombay High Court quashed the notice and all subsequent proceedings or orders that resulted in it. The notice issued by the assessment officer was canceled on technical grounds, as it was issued by the jurisdiction officer instead of the legally mandatory faceless assessing officer. In reaching its decision to cancel the notice, the Honorable High Court trusted the installed examples. If the example changes, and tax authorities revive the writ petition in future, then the decision will be taken on the basis of merit, considering various other issues raised to challenge the revaluation proceedings.

This notice was related to the revaluation of taxable income for the assessment year 2019-20 related to the loan exemption of ₹ 25,185.51 crore in favor of Tata Steel BSL Limited (now merged with the company). The company had earlier filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court, in which the right to the assessment officer was questioned in the operation of revaluation of taxable income for the assessment year 2019-20. In addition, the company received an assessment order issued by the assessment officer on March 31, 2025, in which the taxable income was re-evalted for the assessment year 2019-20 and the amount waived was increased by the amount waived.

On August 12, 2025, the Honorable Bombay High Court heard the case. According to the order received to the company on August 16, 2025, the company informs that, during the hearing held on August 12, 2025, the Honorable Bombay High Court canceled the notice and all subsequent action or orders that resulted in the result.

A Month of Milestones for the Johnson Family

“She started blaming him”: Tom Brady’s controversy led Gisele Bündchen to a drastic decision to keep their relationship intact
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen faced immense strain during the “Deflategate” scandal (Getty Images)

Nearly a decade later, the headlines feel like a time capsule: the NFL consumed by “Deflategate,” Tom Brady’s reputation under a microscope, and whispers that the strain had followed him home. In this throwback, we revisit how a football controversy turned into a relationship stress test for Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen and the line the couple reportedly drew to steady the ship.

When an NFL investigation spilled into the living room and silence filled the gaps

The 2014 AFC Championship fallout wasn’t just about PSI charts and legal briefs; it was about fatigue, scrutiny, and isolation. As one source put it, “Things got so bad after Deflategate that they could barely speak to each other.” The quote captured a grim, mundane reality: two megastars reduced to quiet dinners and clipped exchanges, while an investigation stretched on and a four-game suspension loomed. The pressure cooker intensified familiar friction. Another insider described the tipping point: “Tom got irritable under the stress, and she started blaming him for all their unhappiness, much of which was there before the scandal. Counseling was her ultimatum.” It wasn’t a grand gesture so much as a practical lifeline, an acknowledgment that high-performance careers don’t immunize anyone from the slow-burn damage of stress.

The reluctant pivot to counseling and a competitive comeback that steadied the mood

Therapy, according to reports at the time, forced the couple to separate tabloid noise from real grievances. It reframed the suspension saga as a finite chapter, not a permanent identity. And when Tom Brady returned to the field with the familiar, ruthless rhythm, stacking wins and restoring control—the emotional temperature at home reportedly cooled as well.

A behind the scenes look at New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady

The lesson, viewed in hindsight, is less about scandal and more about systems. The couple put structure around the chaos: professional help for communication, family time that wasn’t an afterthought, and an agreement to treat public storms like weather; loud, disruptive, but passing. Also Read: ‘Black man wanting white woman’: Tom Brady’s ex-wife Gisele Bündchen and LeBron James Vogue cover slammed for racist imageryCelebrity marriages often look bulletproof until they don’t. This slice of 2015 reminds us that even generational athletes and supermodels are vulnerable to the same stress cycles that trip up ordinary couples: work pressure, media noise, and the myth that resilience means going it alone. Brady and Bündchen split back in November of 2022, finalizing their divorce that coincided with the announcement that Brady would be joining FOX Sports as a broadcaster. Shortly after the breakup, it came to light that Bundchen was seeing her former Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente.

Martina Navratilova, the tennis legend, spoke up on August 15, 2025, after the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, came without a peace deal. The meeting, held at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, ended in a standstill. Trump walked away from reporters with no answers, and Martina said his posture looked like someone who had lost. She called him “the body language of a beaten man.” This comment caught attention around the world.

Martina Navratilova used a short, simple phrase to show what she thought. She wrote on X that the way Donald Trump walked away and avoided questions looked like a “beaten man.” She saw him leaving the reporters, not giving answers, and that made her say what she felt. This reaction came right after the failed meeting in Anchorage on August 15, where Trump and Vladimir Putin talked for about three hours but could not agree on stopping the war in Ukraine.

Asia Cup: 'Stop calling them key players' – Mohammad Hafeez slams Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan after Pakistan squad snub

For years, Babar azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been seen as the backbone of Pakistan’s batting unit. But with both senior batters left out of the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, questions over their place in the T20 setup have resurfaced. Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has now added fuel to the debate, bluntly declaring that the duo no longer qualify as “key players” for the national side.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hafeez argued that the “key player” tag belongs only to those consistently winning matches for Pakistan — a category he believes neither Babar nor Rizwan currently fit into. “Calling them key players would be wrong and unfair. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are not Pakistan cricket’s key players at the moment. Key players are those who win matches for Pakistan,” he said.Instead, Hafeez pointed to a new generation of performers carrying the team’s fight in recent times. “If we look at the past year and a half to two years, the players showing consistent performance are Salman Ali Agha, Saeem Ayub and Hasan Nawaz. Why aren’t we talking about them? They are the current players winning matches for Pakistan” he added.Hafeez stressed that the senior batters must re-earn their reputations. “I think Babar and Rizwan need to be concerned about their positions in the team. They need to prove themselves as good players first; key players come later. Both were good in the past, but now they are not delivering results,” he remarked.Even Pakistan’s bowling spearheads did not escape Hafeez’s assessment. “The same goes for Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi, they are also not giving match-winning performances for Pakistan,” he said, before urging the board to adopt a long-term vision.“We should focus on players who can contribute for the next 10–15 years. Our media criticises one or two players and hypes one or two others, which is wrong. We need to talk about those who are actually performing,” Hafeez concluded.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes signals big shift at training camp, bypasses Travis Kelce for 40-yard strike to Xavier Worthy | NFL News

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes signals big shift at training camp, bypasses Travis Kelce for 40-yard strike to Xavier Worthy
Patrick Mahomes is focusing on diversifying his offense and building new connections during Kansas City Chiefs training camp.

Patrick Mahomes is entering his ninth NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs, but this year’s training camp is looking at a possible turning point in how the superstar quarterback plans to run the offense. For years, tight end Travis Kelce has been Mahomes’ most trusted and productive target – a security blanket that helped deliver three Super Bowl titles. But based on what’s happening at Missouri Western State University, Mahomes may be preparing to spread the ball around more than ever and rookie receiver Xavier Worthy is quickly emerging as a major part of that plan.

Patrick Mahomes looks past Travis Kelce and takes a deep shot to his rookie speedster Xavier Worthy

During one of the Chiefs’ first 7-on-7 sessions of camp, Mahomes had a classic opportunity to go back to what’s worked in the past. Kelce was open on a short middle route – the kind of throw Mahomes could make in his sleep. But instead, the quarterback looked off his longtime teammate and fired a deep ball downfield, hitting Worthy in stride for a 40-yard gain over cornerback Jaylen Watson. That moment turned into the biggest highlight of the day and made one thing crystal clear: Mahomes is thinking beyond what’s safe or familiar.Rather than defaulting to Kelce, Mahomes is pushing his offense to evolve. The reigning Super Bowl MVP is testing the limits of Kansas City’s receiving depth and laying the foundation for a more explosive, balanced attack.

Patrick Mahomes sets the tone with full effort and championship focus at Kansas City Chiefs training camp

What’s just as telling as Mahomes’ throws is the way he’s attacking each practice rep. His intensity this offseason has stood out even to his veteran teammates. “I wanted to up my mentality,” Mahomes said of his approach to camp, adding “Sometimes you get to camp, and you just want to go out there and dominate the day. I want to dominate every single rep. No days off. You have to get better and better every day.”Throughout 17 camp sessions, he’s delivered consistently sharp passes and taken command of every drill. According to new Chiefs tight end Robert Tonyan, Mahomes looks more locked in than ever. “It’s incredible,” Tonyan said. “The windows he’s fitting them in, with the anticipation, is just awesome. You see Pat getting better every day. He’s making those hard throws look easy.”

With deeper reads and sharper footwork, Patrick Mahomes looks ready for a new chapter

In previous years, the Chiefs’ star often extended plays with his legs. But this camp, he’s remained more grounded and has focused on clean mechanics – thanks to offseason work with trainer Bobby Stroupe and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. “There’s an obsession that he has with being perfect at what he does,” Nagy said, reacting to the level of detail Mahomes has brought to his game.Recently, Mahomes shared his thoughts on how practicing with the scout team gave him a chance to experiment more than in regular camp practices. “Yeah, it’s fun. You get to push the envelope a little bit. You get to try stuff a little more than you would try in a regular training camp practice,” Mahomes said. He also spoke of how this helped him work on fakes to trick defenses and improve his ability to throw into tighter windows. Also read: Chiefs’ heiress Gracie Hunt transforms Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason defeat into viral fashion spectacle with fearless all-black leather lookWhile the Mahomes-Kelce duo is far from finished – both will be in action when the Chiefs face the Chicago Bears.

India's torment over tariff continues as Zelenskyy heads to White House

India's torment over tariff continues as Zelenskyy heads to White House

TOI correspondent from Washington: European leaders, including the heads of France, Germany, Britain, and Italy, will join Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Monday for talks with President Trump that could determine the future course and fate of many nations, including that of India on the economic front. The Trump-engineered peace agreement envisages Kiev giving up Russian captured territory in return for non-Nato security guarantees, proposals the Europeans and Ukraine are chary of given the US President’s convivial ties with Putin. But challenging Trump also risks continuing a war that Trump thinks Ukraine is certain to lose and fracturing the 75-year old Atlantic alliance that has depended on the US for security. Zelenskyy will return to the Oval Office on Monday morning with the world’s eyes trained on the meeting and memories of the shellacking he got from Trump and vice-president Vance for what they saw as ingratitude in the face of adversity. He will also be accompanied by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Nato Secretary General Mark Rutte, as they try to forestall what is essentially a surrender before the emerging Trump-Putin alliance. The US President exuded confidence ahead of the meeting, posting “BIG PROGRESS ON RUSSIA. STAY TUNED!” and excoriating the liberal media for describing the Alaska summit as a win for Putin. “If I got Russia to give up Moscow as part of the Deal, the Fake News, and their PARTNER, the Radical Left Democrats, would say I made a terrible mistake and a very bad deal. That’s why they are the FAKE NEWS! Also, they should talk about the 6 WARS, etc.I JUST STOPPED!!!” Trump posted. But analysts say permitting Russia to keep captured Ukrainian territory sets a dangerous precedent for smaller countries facing bigger neighbors with historical grievances eyeing their territory. Trump though sees Ukraine being in an unwinnable position — certainly without US support — and would rather have Kiev sue for peace by conceding lost territory and keeping what remains. India, which has little to do with the Russia-Ukraine war but has high stakes in a peace deal, looks likely to face several more weeks of agony and uncertainty, as the Ukraine-EU combine puts up resistance against Trump-Putin initiative to end the war while seeking a trilateral meeting to hash out details. There is growing disapproval among regional experts over Trump’s handling of ties with New Delhi, in particular his victimisation of India with punitive tariffs to achieve peace on the Russia-Ukraine front, with visions of a Nobel Prize tagged to it. “Because US-Russia negotiations are incomplete, the Trump admin can’t make any concrete decisions on India. Washington has put India, a friendly strategic partner, in an indefinite holding pattern—terrible diplomacy on display,” Derek Grossman, an Indo-Pacific national security expert said on X, after Washington postponed a visit to New Delhi by a trade team to discuss tariff issues. Putin himself inadvertently exposed White House hypocrisy towards India as he spoke of a 20 percent increase in Russia-US trade since Trump took office, even as the US President is bearing down on New Delhi for buying Russian oil. “Tariffing India won’t stop Putin. If Trump really wanted to address Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, maybe punish Putin and give Ukraine the military aid it needs. Everything else is smoke and mirrors,” Democrats on the House Foreign Relations committee said over the weekend even as the Republic flock stayed quiet. Former administration officials and even some current insiders are appalled at the Trump White House’s “insensitivity” in managing the India relationship, with criticism about lack of expertise about the sub-continent in the President’s inner circle. One former official said the White House appears to have jettisoned inter-agency meetings and national security issues are being piloted by individuals close to the President with little domain knowledge or expertise.“It’s amateur hour at the White House,” the former official said as reports emerged of an administration staffer leaving behind sensitive documents on a hotel printer in Alaska after the Trump-Putin meeting.

'Putin unable to take Donetsk for 12 years': Zelenskyy's strong pitch on ceding territory day before Trump talks; 'need US on our side'

Zelensky Does It AGAIN! From EU HQ, He Rejects Trump Plan, Lists His Own Conditions For Peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a strong pitch against ceding terroritries like Donetsk to Russia a day before his talks with US President Donald Trump. He said that any discussions involving territories should take place in a trilateral meeting with Ukraine’s presence.Speaking in Brussels with European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, he said, “We need real negotiations, which means they can start where the front line is now. The contact line is the best line for talks, and Europeans support this, for which we are thankful. Russia is still unsuccessful in the Donetsk region, and Putin has been unable to take it for 12 years.”“The Constitution of Ukraine makes it impossible to give up territory or trade land. Since the territorial issue is so important, it should be discussed only by the leaders of Ukraine and Russia at a trilateral Ukraine-United States-Russia meeting. So far, Russia shows no sign that such a trilateral will happen, and if it refuses, new sanctions must follow,” he added.Zelenskyy will be joined by a powerful line-up of European leaders and Nato chiefs as he seeks to secure united backing from the West in the crucial meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday.Ahead of the meeting, he also stressed the need for a ceasefire and “real negotiations.” Zelenskyy said, “Europe is united now as it was in 2022 when the full-scale war began, because this unity helps to reach real peace and must stay strong.”He also called for the killings to stop, even if Putin “does not want to”. “Putin has many demands, but we do not know all of them, and if they are as many as reported, it will take time to address them. This cannot be done under the pressure of weapons, so a ceasefire is necessary to work on a final deal. We will discuss this in Washington. Putin does not want to stop the killings, but he must,” he added.Von der Leyen, who confirmed she would join Zelenskyy and other leaders at the White House, said, “I’m very pleased to be here today for the bilateral meetings we just had, and I’m glad to accompany you and other European leaders tomorrow for the meeting with the US President at the White House. Since the beginning of Russia’s brutal invasion, Europe has stood united with Ukraine and will continue to support you for as long as it takes to achieve a just and lasting peace.Zelenskyy made clear that any future settlement could not come at the cost of Ukraine’s sovereignty. He said negotiations should begin along the current front line, calling it “the best line for talks”. Zelenskyy also highlighted Washington’s role in shaping peace efforts. “From the very beginning, when the US President proposed a ceasefire in March as the first step to stop the killings, we supported it as a strong move to push Russia toward real negotiations… We need United States on our side, and I think that President Trump shared that we need peace, but it requires the right steps – steps toward lasting peace that will truly stop Putin, not just create a pause in the war. This is essential for all of us.He further added that Ukraine’s security must be tied closely to Europe’s future. Zelenskyy said the key questions now were, “What America’s role will be, what Europe’s role will be, and what the EU can do. And this is our main task – we need security to work in practice like Article 5 of Nato, and we consider EU accession to be part of security guarantees.”He said that President Trump and Putin appeared to share views on the matter, which led to discussions on EU accession negotiations. “There can be no division between Ukraine and Moldova,” Zelenskyy stressed, warning that such a move “would mean Europe is divided on Ukraine and lacks a common strong position on guarantees, which many in Europe believe would only make things worse.”In Washington, Zelenskyy would be accompanied by Von der Leyen, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Nato secretary general Mark Rutte, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The united front comes after tensions between Zelenskyy and Trump in February, when a heated Oval Office meeting left Kyiv fearing it could be pressurised. Concern also grew after Trump’s recent summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, from which Zelenskyy was excluded, sparking alarms that the US president could favour Moscow.

Pakistan have named a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup T20 tournament in the UAE and the preceding tri-series in Sharjah, with head coach Mike Hesson expressing confidence in a “highly competitive” group that blends youth with experience.Significantly, the selectors have opted to leave out two stalwarts, Babar azam and Mohammad Rizwan, both of whom last featured in T20Is in December 2024. While the duo’s absence raised eyebrows, Hesson underlined that the decision was part of a larger strategy to broaden the player pool and give fresh talent exposure on the international stage.“We’ve put together what we believe is a highly competitive squad following the recent T20I series. Excited to see some fresh faces stepping up alongside our experienced senior players. A great blend of energy & experience for the Tri-Nation series & Asia Cup,” wrote Hesson on X.
