- The unwavering faith of the people of Bhoi society with the statue of Megharaja
With the demand for rain during the Pappania drought, people of the Bhoi community made a clay idol of Megharaja about five and a half feet high on the night of Ashadha Vad Chaudash and prayed to Megharaja for rain. If it doesn’t rain, he shouted to destroy the idol. Suddenly there was a change in the weather and it rained heavily. In the only Bharuch in the world, since two and a half centuries ago, the tradition of making a statue of Megharaja on the night of Ashadha Vad Chaudash has been going on.

On the night of Ashadha Vad Chaudash on Thursday, the youth of Bhoi Samaj made a statue of Megharaja weighing more than 350 kg from clay. In Bhoiwad, the statue of Meghraja can be visited for 25 days. Megharaja’s real fair will be celebrated this year with much fanfare, from Shravan vad 7th to Shravan vad 10th.
