Two days before July 1 last, a 31-year-old married woman of Mehsana Panthak, a young man named Prajnesh Patel, a resident of Motidau village in the taluka, called and threatened to kill her husband and her twin children. Neha (name changed) left her home on July 1 without telling anyone. From Radhanpur Chowk, Pragnesh Patel went to Malataj in Kheda, where he stayed overnight and took her to Shirdi in Maharashtra, kept her in a hotel for three to four days, made her drink alcohol and kept her in a semi-conscious state.

After bringing her back to Ahmedabad from there, Prajnesh kept the married Neha in a room for three days and again took her to Shirdi and on July 25 threatened her with alcohol in a hotel and in the evening Neha in a semi-conscious state took a bus from Shirdi to Ahmedabad and from there in the morning brought Mehsana in a passenger car. Next, after staying at a hut-like place, Pragnesh took Neha in an eco car and dropped her at Palavasana Becharaji Chowk after which Neha went to meet her husband at the ONGC office.

But when she was returning from the office without meeting them, Pragnesh put her in a rickshaw and dropped her near Patiya, a village near Mehsana. Pragnesh, who was walking towards her village, took a lidded vinyl to a lake near Neha, who was standing near the railway gate. Pragnesh pushed Neha into the lake with the intention of killing her while Neha vomited the phenyl she drank.
Proceedings after registration of offense under Section 307
Neha, who was lying in the lake, was pulled out of the water by people who brought cows screaming to save her. Parneeta filed a complaint against Prajnesh Govindbhai Patel of Bodi Dau village and the police registered a case under section 307 of attempted murder and took further action.
