The Aam Aadmi Party, the ruling party in Delhi and Punjab, has announced its decision on which candidate to support in the presidential election.
Aam Aadmi Party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting was held at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Saturday. In this meeting, the election of the President was discussed. After this meeting, the party announced its decision to support Yashwant Sinha in the presidential election.
Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Pankaj Gupta, Raghav Chadha etc. were present in the Aam Aadmi Party Political Affairs Committee meeting. It may be noted that ‘AAP’ is the only non-BJP, non-Congress party which has government in two states (Delhi and Punjab). The Aam Aadmi Party has 10 MPs in the Rajya Sabha from these two states, including three from Delhi and seven from Punjab. Apart from this, the party has 92 MLAs in Punjab, 62 in Delhi and two in Goa. Voting for the presidential election will be held on Monday.
After this decision of the Aam Aadmi Party, now the MPs and MLAs of the party will vote for the presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha. Draupadi Murmu is the presidential candidate from NDA.
