Chandigarh Police’s District Crime Cell team has arrested an accused in the case of fake High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). The accused is Tushar, working in the motor market of Sector 38, from whom about 40 forged high security number plates were found. Let us tell you that often such fake number plates are used by criminal elements, including gangsters.
Inspector Narindra Patial, in-charge of District Crime Cell, claimed that the accused had prepared more than thousand fake number plates. Many people got him fake number plates made. It looks absolutely real. The accused used to bring these fake number plates from Delhi and by putting holograms on it, it was made exactly like real, no one could know that they are fake.

Narindra Patial told that he had received information that a person named Tushar is working in making number plates of vehicles in booth number 189 of Sector 38 (West) since the year 2002. Although he was making fake high security number plates for the last 1 year. Police got shocking information from sources that Tushar is making fake high security number plates. He has kept a dye for this. He was making these fake plates by bringing fake Holomarks etc. from Delhi. Number plates of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and other states were recovered during the raid at his booth. At the same time, when he was arrested, even during that time he was making a fake high security number plate of Chandigarh number.

When the police informed the Chandigarh Administration and the SDM, it came to know that there is no such private contractor, whom the government has given a contract to make such high security number plates. Inspector Narindra Patial said that he has got information that such fraud is going on in one or two other motor markets. Action will be taken against them too.
Used to recover from thousand rupees to 2 thousand
Police said that Tushar was making fake high security number plates for the last one year. He has made thousands of such number plates. 35 to 40 number plates have been recovered. The accused used to take 1000 to 1200 rupees from the residents for the installation of fake number plates. At the same time, he used to charge around 1500 to 2 thousand rupees from the people of other states.
It has also come to the fore in the police investigation that the accused used to prepare high security plates of numbers of other states by dealing on the phone. However, vehicles had to come to him, because without a punching machine this plate would not fit on the vehicle. A case has been registered against the accused under the sections of cheating and forgery.

Inspector Narindra Patial said that it has become mandatory across the country to have high security number plates on their vehicles. The person concerned has to apply for it by going to the SDM office, after which the person is given time. Those whom the administration has given the contract to install high security number plates, they install the number plates outside the SDM office. The person’s photo is taken. It costs around 300 to 350 rupees.
Chandigarh Police has appealed to the general public to avoid such persons by making fake high security number plates. There is also a provision for action if caught driving a vehicle with such fake number plates installed from a mechanic or booth. He said that the holomark on the fake high security number plates comes off quickly whereas the original holomark does not come off so easily.
