Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval to the works of 188.12 crores for taking up works of advanced technology based sewage treatment plants of total capacity of 73.98 MLD in 9 municipalities of the state.

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval to the works of 188.12 crores for taking up works of advanced technology based sewage treatment plants of total capacity of 73.98 MLD in 9 municipalities of the state. In the municipalities of the state, the household waste water collected from the sewer network is disposed of according to the norms of the Ministry of Environment and with the intention that such water can be re-used, pun: STP works are being carried out in the municipalities based on advanced technology.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval for the construction of advanced STPs for the 9 municipalities where domestic waste water was previously disposed of using old technology and treatment in oxidation ponds. He has sanctioned the works of 188.12 crores for sewage treatment plant (STP) with advanced technology for sewage treatment in these municipalities in 2022-23 as part of environment conservation approach in the state and associated ancillary works required to make it fully functional.

Among these 9 municipalities, 23.29 crores for Gadha STP 6.3 MLD capacity, 14.02 crores for Kathlal STP 4.5 MLD capacity, 10 crores for Mahudha STP 4 MLD capacity, 9.68 crores for Patdi, 30.56 crores for Savarkundla, 13.17 crores for Baid, 48.31 crores for Siddhapur. , including 10.61 crores for Sojitra and 28.48 crores for Vallabh Vidyanagar.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the approach of the state government is to ensure the facility of Sewage Treatment Plant STP in all the municipalities of the state. Under which works of 161 STPs of 1850 crores of total 1497 MLD capacity in municipalities have been approved earlier, 720 MLD capacity STP works are operational in 57 municipalities. In the 9 municipalities where STP works have been approved by the Chief Minister, adequate efforts will be made to treat the water through STP and dispose it in the environment or for consumption in agriculture/industries.
