The program “Bright India: Bright Future: Power@2047” has been organized to bridge the gap between the State and Central Governments and bring the key achievements of the Power Department to the masses. In Anvye Tapi district yesterday Saturday at Maharaja Agrasen Bhawan of Songadh taluk “Ujjwal Bharat: Ujjwal Vishusi: Power@2047” program was held under the chairmanship of Municipal Vice President Bhavna Gameet.

“Customers are becoming prosumers not consumers by adopting roof top solar”
Bhavnabe from the chair said, Under the umbrella of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishi: Power @2047, the electricity festival is being celebrated across the country to bring greater public participation and development of the power sector to the citizens. He elaborated on the government’s 2020 electricity rules or the rights of consumers and added that with the announcement of the maximum time limit by the government for getting a new connection, consumers are now becoming consumers and not prosumers by adopting roof top solar. He informed about 24X7 call center to ensure timely billing, redressal of meter related complaints and state regulatory authority for other services of discom customers. He said that 100% village electrification (18,374) was achieved in 987 days in 2018 and appreciated the performance of DGVCL department in Tapi district of the state and called for taking advantage of various schemes.

“The country is now moving towards self-reliance in energy production”
Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent Engineer A.G.Patel said that the power generation capacity in India has increased from 2,48,554 MW in 2014 to 4,00,000 MW today which is 1,85,000 MW more than the country’s demand. The country is now moving towards self reliance in energy generation and exporting electricity/energy to its neighboring countries. 1,63,000cm of transmission line has been added, connecting the entire country into one grid running on one frequency. From Ladakh to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to the Myanmar border, it has emerged as the world’s largest integrated grid. Using this grid we can transmit 1,12,000 MW of electricity from one corner of the country to another very quickly.

“By 2030 generation capacity will be 40% from renewable sources”
Recalling the occasion of the promise made at COP21, he said, Gujarat will have 40% of its generation capacity from renewable sources by 2030. We have achieved this target by November 2021, 9 years ahead of schedule. Today we are generating 1,63,000 MW of electricity through renewable sources. And setting up renewable energy capacity at the fastest pace in the world. Rs. In which one of the beneficiaries, Arjunbhai Gameet, a native of Tarsadi village of Songadh taluka, said, “May has received electricity connection under the TSP scheme during the year 2020-21. So our family has got a lot of relief for which I am very thankful to the state government along with DGVCL department.”
Along with this, a tribal cultural program was organized by the children of Songarh Public School, nukkad plays on various issues and screening of short films on power sector by “Zero Level Portion” drama troupe of Surat.

Beneficiaries including ex-minister Kantibhai Gameet, Gitaben Gameet, Nayanaben Gameet, Falguni Konkani, Chief Manager Power Grid Janakbhai, KPA Mahesh Patel of DGVCL were present on this occasion. The entire program was moderated by SR Chaudhary. The staff officers of DGVCL of Tapi district put in a lot of effort and successfully completed the program.
