A video conference was organized by Navsari Krishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with Reliance Foundation Navsari on precautions to be taken in paddy crop due to excess rainfall. At the beginning of the program, Hareshbhai Gajera, officer of Reliance Foundation, introduced the dignitaries present and explained the purpose of the program. Inauguration of this program and vice-chancellor of Navsari Agricultural University Dr. Z.P.Patel said that this program has been organized with the purpose of finding out which crops can be grown in the future in the circumstances of the difficulties faced by the farmers due to the loss of crops due to excessive rains and the destruction of paddy fields.
He further said that the Agricultural University continuously conducts research in various crops to make useful recommendations to the farmers to solve the problems related to the farmers and through KVK and other organizations are trying to convey the recommendations to the farmers promptly.
Special guest of this program and Director of Extension Education Dr. Niksinh Chauhan stressed that in the short period of July in Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Surat districts of South Gujarat, due to heavy rains, instead of replanting paddy, farmers’ households were destroyed, adopting other alternative farming methods of paddy to get more production in the crop and to adopt fertilizer, irrigation, irrigation management recommended by the university. was
In this program, the scientist of the main paddy research center, Dr. Pathik Patel gave detailed information about cultivation of fallow paddy and sprouted paddy cultivation method if there is no availability of water during heavy rains.
