The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Naresh Kumar of Desu Majra, Kharar. Last month, on June 24, this case was registered in the cyber police station for cheating, criminal conspiracy and under the IT Act.

Will be interviewed on phone and cheated

Cyber Crime Station Inspector Hari Om Sharma said that this case was registered on the complaint of Sejal Dhanta of Chandigarh. He got a call on a mobile. The person had offered a job in Mahindra Company. He pretended that today is the last day and his name has been shortlisted. Sejal needed a job/internship. The thugs asked him to deposit one thousand rupees along with documents and two thousand rupees separately for the interview. Confidently deposited the amount from Sejal.

After this the thug said that he will issue her joining letter if she deposits Rs. Sejal gave a total of Rs 8500 to the accused thug. Sejal was allegedly interviewed on some other mobile number. As soon as the money was received, the accused thugs blocked his mobile number and did not offer any job. The amount was given through Google ID.

During the investigation, the police arrested Naresh Kumar after interrogation. He has been taken on police remand for two days. The police have recovered the mobile from which the call was made. Police is engaged in further investigation in the case.

Young people were targeted by taking data from open source websites

Inspector Hari Om Sharma, who is leading the team to nab the accused, told that the accused used to take data of youth from open source website. After this, he used to cheat them by calling them and offering fake jobs. They were told that today is the last day to get the job and they have been shortlisted. After this the accused used to call the victims from different numbers and fake interviews were conducted on the phone.

After this, the fake joining letter was sent through e-mail. Money was charged in advance for security fees, documentation, interview and other things. Once the money was received, he did not provide any jobs to the victims and used to block their numbers and change SIMs several times.

Be careful

Cyber Crime Police Station has advised people to apply only after thoroughly checking the jobs offered in the form of e-mail, phone or newsprint. Do not deposit money and documents like this to get a job.
