Mutations again in the Omicron variant

The Omicron variant of the Corona has undergone a mutation again and a new sub variant has been revealed. The BA.5 variant has wreaked havoc in several countries, including Portugal. Here, an Israeli scientist has claimed on Twitter that a new sub-variant of Omicron BA.2.75 has been found in India. He claimed that BA.2.75 cases have been reported in 7 more countries besides India.

The first case of the Omicron variant was found in South Africa in November last year. Omicron is by far the most contagious variant. However it is considered less severe and less contagious than the rest of the variants. Several sub variants of Omicron have been reported.

Omicron and its sub variants were believed to be responsible for the growing case of Corona in India. The government said four sub variants of Omicron – BA.2, BA.2.38, BA.4 and BA.5 – are increasing the case. But now the case of another new sub-variant BA.2.75 has increased the tension.
