Let’s make water the Guru in Chaturmas
Focus – Mukesh Pandya
Monsoon is currently in progress. Rivers have become maddened. The sea waves are rolling. Lakes are overflowing. When you see water all around, you should learn as much as you can from water. One of the 24 gurus that Lord Dattatreya created is water. Just last week we celebrated Gurupurnima. Let us learn the lessons of fulfillment from water today and make the current monsoon worthwhile.
The first lesson to be learned from water is that it finds its way undaunted in the face of any adversity. Many stones and rocks come across the flowing rivers and streams, no matter how heavy the ups and downs, they continue to move forward in their own way despite changing their flow. Stays on reaching the destination. We should also overcome all the problems and change ourselves according to the need and keep moving forward to achieve the goal.
The quality of coolness can be learned from water. A person who does not get angry under any circumstances. A person who keeps his mind and brain cool will achieve success sooner or later in life.
Water brings purity. Any dirt can be washed away with water. Not only clothes, utensils, floor or wall can be cleaned with water, our body can also be cleaned.
What is the work of the body, the dirt of the mind can also be cleansed by bathing in water. In our religion, whether it is a recitation, a yajna, or an after-death ritual, taking a water bath is extremely important. Jalabhishek is also very dear to the deities, as water is the element that purifies the body and mind. You may think that water can purify an object or body, but how can it purify the mind, let us see that too.
If you feel angry sometimes, drink cold water instead of speaking and shouting. The amount of anger will be greatly reduced. If wrong lust arises in your mind, immediately pour cold water on your head. Lust will subside. If you hear any news, take a bath. The strength to bear the shock will come. It is customary to bathe there to remove the grief or shock caused by the death of a relative.
With water we can also learn the virtue of flexibility. Just like if water is filled in any shaped container, it easily spills into it, we should also mold ourselves to the situations or circumstances that come in life.
Water has no color of its own. Whatever color we put in it, it becomes that color. A song from the Hindi film ‘Shoor’ comes to mind here:
Pani Re Pani… Tera Rang Kaisa?
Jis mein milaye… lage us jaisa.
Water has no taste either. If you put sugar in it, it will become liquid. If you add salt, it becomes salty. Also, if lemon is squeezed, it becomes sour. This is its essence. One adapts to any place, time or circumstance. Inanimate objects cannot undergo any change in themselves. Their stubbornness weighs heavily on them. If we strike a sword on solid things, they will be broken into pieces, but if we strike water several times, it cannot be broken.
Inert matter lies dormant in one place. When the flowing quality of water gives it consciousness. The fluidity of water is what moves creation. The term liquidity is used when cash money can easily be exchanged in the market. Water teaches us to bear and carry the wounds of karma rather than becoming numb to whatever problems come our way in life.
Whether plant or animal, water is essential for the nutrition of everyone. Be it the human body or the entire universe, seventy percent of it is water. This alone explains its usefulness and indispensability. We too must prove our usefulness and indispensability to the home, office, society or country by the fragrance of our works.
Let’s talk about guru-disciple. When it comes to learning something, the time of examination or test also comes.
Water is an excellent teacher, but it also has the quality of being an excellent examiner. Nowadays houses are being built in huge numbers. The quality of this construction is tested during the monsoons. If water is leaking from the wall or roof of the building, understand that there is a defect in the construction.
The quality of roads is not known during summer or winter, but when it starts raining, it is known whether these roads are pass or fail.
When our bravery or entrepreneurship is being tested, there is a saying that how much water is in someone will be measured. A weak person is given the simile of Napaniya. Here comes a song from the movie ‘Pahchaan’:
Kaun kaun kitne pani mein sabki hai pahchan muje.
Water is both teacher and examiner.
‘Let’s learn a lot from water,
Let’s leave the inertia, let’s adopt water!’
