Leo Bolo / Petrol-diesel prices skyrocket, fuel consumption rises sharply in June

On the one hand, fuel prices have skyrocketed in the country in recent times, while on the other hand, sales have skyrocketed. Despite this, consumption of petrol and diesel has not declined, according to government figures. Last June, fuel consumption in the country has crossed the level of June 2017. Petrol sales have increased by 19.50 per cent as compared to June 2013, while sales have been 9 per cent higher as compared to June 2021.

It has also led to an increase in petrol consumption due to the increasing preference of people for transportation through personal vehicles, government sources said. Refineries are operating at full capacity due to increased demand.

Diesel consumption has increased by 10.50 per cent in June this year as compared to June 2017, while it has increased by 9 per cent in the same month of 2021, according to government data. Demand for diesel is on the rise due to increased freight traffic due to increased inter-state travel and industrial activity.
