Orange Alert in MMR! There will be torrential rains in this district including Mumbai

Mumbai: The Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday forecast heavy to very heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad in the next 24 hours. IMD has issued an orange alert for Mumbai. Several low-lying areas in the city were flooded following rains since Thursday. The highest rainfall was recorded in Dadar, Dharavi, Mahim and Matunga.

Roads and railway tracks were flooded, disrupting traffic. Meanwhile, following heavy rain forecast in several districts of Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today held a meeting with the state’s Disaster Management Department.

The meeting discussed issues like giving notice to dilapidated and dangerous buildings in Mumbai, train service not being affected as well as how to deal with landslides.
