Protests turn aggressive, PM Wickremesinghe ready to resign - Bombay News

Citizens are also outraged as the economic crisis in Sri Lanka continues to deepen. Inflation-stricken Sri Lankans are taking to the streets to protest against the government amid a shortage of basic necessities, including fuel and milk. On Saturday, protesters surrounded the residence of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, demanding his resignation. However, Rajapaksa had earlier fled the residence. Rumors that he has fled the country have also been rife.
In the midst of all this, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe called an emergency meeting of party leaders to find an immediate solution. During the meeting, PM Wickremesinghe said he was ready to resign and form an all-party government.
According to reports, both the President and the Prime Minister have been asked to resign. The speaker has also been offered the presidency on a temporary basis.
