Heavy rains forecast for next five years

The meteorological department has also forecast heavy to very heavy rains in the state for the next 24 hours. Clouds of crisis are hovering over South Gujarat in particular.

The meteorological department has instructed the fishermen not to plow the sea for the next 5 days. The state government has urged the NDRF, SDRF and local bodies to be vigilant in the wake of heavy rains forecast. So when more rain falls, people from low-lying areas are ordered to move to safer places immediately.

Red alert issued for South Gujarat

The meteorological department has also forecast heavy to very heavy rains in the state for the next 24 hours. Clouds of crisis are hovering over South Gujarat in particular. According to the meteorological department, heavy rains are likely to fall on South Gujarat in the next 24 hours and that is why the meteorological department has issued a red alert for South Gujarat. While heavy rains are forecast in some districts of Saurashtra including Central Gujarat. Following which, the meteorological department has issued an orange alert in these areas. So yellow alert has been declared for other districts of Saurashtra including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar. Thus, a rain crisis is looming over the state for the next 24 hours.

State machinery on alert

Pankaj Kumar, the chief secretary of the state government, reached the control room following the heavy rains in Gujarat. A comprehensive review was conducted via video conference from the State Emergency Operations Center with top officials from eight districts. He said immediate action should be taken for the evacuation of the affected. At the same time, he instructed to provide facilities including food and health in all the shelters. Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar said five more NDRF teams have been dispatched to eight districts.
