There is a common belief that if a crime is proved, the court will get a prison sentence, but the Judicial Magistrate of Limbadi has sentenced a retired Talati to serve in a crime! A Talati caught drinking while on duty will have to spend 1 month cleaning the Limbadi court, watering trees, and serving patients in the hospital for 1 month.

The first incident of sentencing to service after the establishment of the court at Limbadi
The court changed the nature of the sentence when the former Talati challenged the sentence of 7 months imprisonment given by the lower court. This is the first instance of serving sentence after the establishment of the court in Limbadi. On June 15, 2012, the then Talati Mohanbhai Narshibhai Rathore was caught by the police after he was seen drinking liquor and eating lathiyas in public near the Limbadi taluka panchayat office.

The case went to the lower court
Limbdi Police filed a case under the Prohibition Act and filed a charge sheet in the court. The case went on in the lower court, in which on December 12, 2019, the court sentenced Mohan Rathore to simple imprisonment of 6 months for the offense of Section 66(1) B, 1 for the offense of 85(1) (3). 2,500 fine and sentenced to simple imprisonment of one month. Against this judgment of the lower court, Mohan Rathore in Limbadi District Additional Court, lawyer B. like this. The application was filed by Zandadia. On 10 January 2020, the trial began in the District Additional Court after the case was filed.

A sentence of community service instead of imprisonment
The accused retired on August 31, 2021. Meanwhile, Mohan Rathore gave up the habit of drinking alcohol. Being a 61-year-old senior citizen, the lawyer submitted before the court to sentence the accused to community service instead of imprisonment. Public Prosecutor Y. J. Considering Yagnik’s arguments, 4th Additional Sessions Judge Mamata Chauhan gave the historic judgment on 20th day 2 years 6 months after the case was filed.

Sentenced to watering the trees in the court premises
Accused Mohan Rathore was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment by the lower court instead of 6 months imprisonment in the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court of Limbadi for 1 month from August 5 to September 3 from 9:30 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 6 pm for cleaning, watering the trees in the court premises. Also, in lieu of 1 month imprisonment, from September 4 to October 3 i.e. for 30 days, the accused was sentenced to serve patients at Limbadi Government Hospital from 9:30 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 6 pm.
