PATNA: A week ahead of its state executive committee meeting, JD(U) on Saturday created two new cells – Local Bodies and Scheduled Tribes. MLC Radha Charan Sah and Sambhu Kumar Suman were appointed the state president of the local bodies cell and the scheduled tribe cell, respectively.
With this, the total number of cells in the party has increased to 14. Earlier when RCP Singh was the party’s national president, JD(U) had created a total of 33 cells in the state. But soon after Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan took over as the national president, he ordered for the dissolution of all 33 cells. Later, at the directive of Lalan Singh, only 12 cells were created in place of the previous 33.
“Earlier, there were two separate cells for the Panchayati Raj and the urban local bodies in the party. Now both were merged into one and a new local bodies cell was created today and the party MLC Radha Charan Sah was made the state president of the new body,” JD(U) state general secretary Mrityunjay Kumar Singh told TOI on Saturday.
Singh said around 400 delegates from different districts of Bihar would participate in the party’s state executive committee meeting, to be held at the party’s Karpoori Sabhagar in the state capital on September 3. The party’s state office-bearers meeting would be held at the same venue on September 2, he said.
