Team India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has completed 14 years since his debut in international cricket. Kohli made his international debut against Sri Lanka in 2008. Since then Kohli has scaled new heights in his ‘Virat’ career.
14 years since Kohli’s debut
It has been 14 years since Virat Kohli made his debut in international cricket. Kohli made his international debut in the year 2008 against Sri Lanka in Dambulla today (August 18). However, Kohli could not do anything special in that ODI match and was dismissed off Nuwan Kulshekara for just 12 runs. Kohli has never looked back since that debut and has scored over 23,000 runs in international cricket, including 70 centuries.

After completing 14 years since his international debut, Kohli on Thursday took to his Instagram to share a reel showcasing some of the most iconic moments of his career. Sharing the reel on Instagram, Kohli wrote, ‘It all started 14 years ago and it’s an honor.’ In the video, fans can also see Kohli celebrating with Sachin Tendulkar after winning the 2011 World Cup.

Virat Kohli’s IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also felicitated the star batsman on completing 14 years since his debut. RCB shared a 14-second video on Twitter, showcasing some of Kohli’s best performances as well as his incredible stats in the 50-over format.
Kohli’s recent form has been very poor
However, Virat Kohli’s recent form has not been spectacular and he has been struggling to score runs. It has been a thousand days since Virat Kohli scored a century in international cricket for India. 33-year-old Virat Kohli scored his last century in international cricket in November 2019. He played an innings of 136 runs at the Eden Garden in Kolkata. Virat Kohli then scored 2,554 runs in 79 innings from 68 matches, including 24 fifties. Meanwhile, his average has been 35.47.
Kohli will participate in the Asia Cup
Virat Kohli will now be seen representing India in the Asia Cup. Six teams are going to participate in Asia Cup 2022 to be held in UAE from August 27 to September 11. Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan have already qualified for the tournament. While the sixth and final team will be decided after the qualifying tournament. Team India will begin their campaign on August 28 against arch-rivals Pakistan.
